Exclusive Pics From Transmorphers: Fall Of Man

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Paul Bales / Avery Guerra

I know most of you out there just can't wait to see "Transformers 2", but I really don't have any interest in seeing the movie. I thought the first one was awful, and from what I'm reading online, the sequel sounds like more of the same Micheal Bay crap.

I know, I'm in the minority here.

Well, if you are part of the small group that I belong to, or you just really love giant robot flicks, there is an alternative to the main-stream "Transformers" CGI cluster f**k out there. The Asylum is releasing their own giant transforming robot film, called "Transmorphers: Fall of Man".

I know what your thinking, "Transmorphers?, oh please". True, the name does make you think that this is just a cheap rip-off film, and the fact that it features transforming robots just about seals the deal, but the plot is very different from "Transformers."

Yes, "Transformers" has a plot, something I hear "Transformers 2" is in short supply of.

The film follows the story of a group of freedom fighters who try to stop the invasion of Earth by a bunch of alien robots.

The film will be released on DVD on June 30th and it can be ordered through Amazon.com (See Below)

Paul Bales from The Asylum was kind enough to send us over a couple of photos from "Transmorphers: Fall of Man":

Not To Be Confused With Transformers - The First Trailer For Transmorphers Fall Of Man

Written By: Ken Hulsey

I know what you are thinking, "'Transmorphers'? Isn't that just some cheap rip-off of 'Transformers' or something?" Well if you were thinking that, and you would be justified to do so, you would be wrong...well sorta. Indeed The Asylum's latest sci fi film does have a very familiar sounding name, but the film itself has a plot that is very different from "Transformers."

In fact the plot for "Transmorphers: Fall of Man" sounds a little like "Terminator".....and....um...."Transformers."

Okay, ya got me.

The film follows the story of a group of freedom fighters who try to stop the invasion of Earth by a bunch of alien robots.

In fact "Fall of Man" is a prequel to 2007s "Transmorphers", which picks up the story some 300 years in the future, where the robots have enslaved mankind.

Now that you mention it, that film sounds a lot like the Japanese sci fi film "Returner", which kinda ripped-off "Terminator", and that film had a giant transforming alien robot at the end that was disguised as a passenger jet.....like "Transformers."

Gosh, this all getting messy. It's starting to become hard to keep all these movies straight.

Okay, just go home this weekend and watch "Terminator", "Transformers", "Returner"....um...."The Matrix".....and "Transmorphers" and see if your head explodes?

Transmorphers Fall Of Man: Transforming Cell Phone Effects Shot

Written By: Ken Hulsey

A lot has been written about The Asylum and their films that are 'inspired by' Hollywood block-busters. May of you may be aware of their upcoming release "Transmorphers: Fall of Man", which is obviously meant to ride the wave of publicity generated by this summers new "Transformers" film.

Although the plot for "Transmorphers" is very much different from that of "Transformers", the latest effects clip released from the studio is certain to make you think of a scene from the first "Transformers" movie. It may even make you cough and say under your breath, "rip-off". If you remember the Decepticon called "Frenzy" (who was supposed to be the original character, Soundwave) turned into a boom box and a cell phone. Well, here we have a clip of a mobile phone (looks like a Blackberry) turning into a spider-robot.

A cool effects shot I grant you, but obviously not very original.

Now, a lot of you know that I have defended The Asylum, and their films, many a time, but this time I really can't say much. The clip speaks for itself. If you weren't a fan of these films before, this will certainly give you more to complain about.

It should be noted that a lot of fans have wondered exactly how The Asylum has been able to stay out of legal trouble making copy-cat films. Well apparently they finally got dinged over their film "The Terminators." Check out this post from the Retromedia Message Boards:

"Interesting footnote: If you take a look at The Asylum’s website currently you won’t find a single mention of The Terminators on it. No artwork, no trailer, no listings, even the film’s web page has gone suspiciously missing. One of my Asylum insiders has told me that they did indeed get hit with a cease & desist, removed all info in relation to the film from their website to make it look like they were complying, and then went ahead releasing the film into the marketplace anyway. Never ever let it be said that The Asylum isn’t run by people with elephant-sized cajones."

Big balls, or not, sometimes when you play with fire, you get burned.

I can only hope that The Asylum continues to make more "original" films. In that area the studio has shown great promise as of late. Their remake of "The Land That Time Forgot" has also generated a great deal of interest. Is the studio at a turning point? Only time will tell.

Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus: How Big Is Too Big?

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Paul Bales (The Asylum) / Avery Guerra

For centuries man has pondered the question, "How big is too big?" Now generally the question has referred to things like houses, cars, boats.....um....women's chests and other material things. Now, however, the question may asked of movie monsters.

Sure, there have been tons of gigantic critters in movies throughout the decades, such as King Kong, Godzilla, Gamera, The giant ants from Them!, Gappa, and Reptilicous. The list goes on and on.

Leave it to the folks over at The Asylum to create two monsters that make all of those monsters look like midgets. Monsters so large that they even eclipse the fame of their cinema co-star, 80s pop sensation, Debbie Gibson. Yes, we are talking huge!

Oh, did I forget to mention that these monsters are a giant octopus and a giant shark, the two nastiest predators in the ocean?

My bad.

Oh, sure the shark in "Jaws" was big.....and scary, but we are talking about a shark so big that it could rise out of the bay and bite the span of the Golden Gate Bridge.

That sure sounds big!

We are talking about an octopus so large that it could munch down a nuclear submarine like it was a Good & Plenty.

Well how big is that you may ask? Well lets do a size comparison. Look at the photo of the shark attacking the sub. Okay, now look at the photo below of Godzilla attacking a submarine. Sorry, the only photo I could find is of a figurine, but it proves my point.

That's one heck of a giant octopus!

Now, here's the question, are these monsters too big? Is there such a thing?

If you like em big, and a lot of people do, then "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" should be right up your alley.

For me, just a hand-full is enough........what.......oh, yeh, I mean that I prefer the 100-meter-tall and under monster crowd.

An Early Effects Shot From Transmorphers The Fall Of Man

Written By: Ken Hulsey

With a brand-new "Transformers" movie coming out this summer, it should be expected that The Asylum would be coming out with their own film 'inspired by' the big-budget Hollywood epic, and indeed they are. The film entitled "Transmorphers: Fall of Man" features everything you would expect, robots that change shape and the like.

Unlike the upcoming "Transformers" movie, "Transmorphers: Fall of Man" is a prequel. The the original "Transmorphers" (2007), takes place 300 years in the future and follows a human rebellion against a race of alien robots who have enslaved the Earth."

"Transmorphers: Fall of Man" takes place in modern times, and follows the story of when the alien robots first land on Earth. The invasion forces mankind underground and the rebellion is formed.

The film stars one of my favorite actors, Bruce Boxleitner, who was the shit on "Babylon 5."

The Asylum was cool enough to send us an early effects shot from the film. In the clip a giant robot is seen firing on a fleeing pick-up truck. A pretty cool sequence!

Fans of giant robot movies and animation may want to give "Transmorphers: Fall of Man" a look!
