Godzilla Movie News: Body Doubles Needed!

I have a body like a prehistoric monster ... looks like I could get a job in the movies!

The next chapter in Warner Bros.’ cinematic MonsterVerse is looking for a few body doubles for a shoot in Atlanta, Georgia.

The upcoming feature film “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history, will star Sally Hawkins, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and Kyle Chandler.

Three actors, aged 18–50, with specific physical requirements, are sought for body doubles of principal actors in the film. The first role is available for a Caucasian male actor with brown hair, 5’10”–6’, and an exact clothing size.

A Black female actor with short black hair, a height of 5’7”–5’9”, and a weight of 120–140 pounds is wanted for the second body double.

Finally, an Asian female actor with dark brown or black hair in a pixie cut, a height of 5’3”–5’5”, and a weight of 100–120 pounds is needed for the third double.

The scenes will film on April 10–12 in Atlanta, Georgia. Photo doubles will be paid $150 for 12 hours of work.

Are some of Star Wars's most beloved aliens returning for Episode VII?

While a few general casting calls for extras have surface, we now have one that actually suggests information somewhat beyond the very basic fact that people will appear in this film (although if George Lucas was still in charge, I guess we couldn’t necessarily take even that for granted). Anyway, the casting call asks for the following:

"Male, 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too 'thick set' especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus."

The reaction that most everyone has had to this news is, “Well, that sounds like Wookies.” So then, Wookies might be set to appear in the new film… maybe. For his part, Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew has responded to this news by declaring he has every intention of reprising the role in the new film.

Rumor: Jonathan Rhys Meyers In Talks For 'Star Wars Episode VII' Role

Now "Star Trek Into Darkness" is in theaters (to somewhat underwhelming grosses), Jj Abrams attention will now move exclusively (well, excluding the dozens of projects in the works at his company Bad Robot -- read about those here) toward "Star Wars Episode VII," his much-anticipated renewal of the Other geek-beloved space franchise. And with the film due for release in the summer of 2015, we should start to hear about new casting for the series, beyond what we already know -- e.g. that original central trio of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are returning in some degree. And while it's not official yet, word is coming in that the first new cast member might be an old collaborator of Abrams, as the normally-on-the-money Latino Review report that "The Tudors" star Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in talks to play a role in "Episode VII." Yuki Morita Joins The Cast , State Of The Art Sound and Scared Canadians - A Godzilla Update

In our never-ending quest to bring you every single bit of news possible regarding the now filming Legendary Pictures take on Godzilla, we have come up with three tidbits of news for you! Read on for details.

First up, we've gotten word that fresh-faced actress Yuki Morita (pictured) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. She will be filming in Vancouver and Hawaii, which we can only speculate will be doubling for Japan. Interesting!

From there Screen Daily has dropped some news that the sound mix for the film is going to be state of the art! Dolby Atmos is designed to transmit up to 128 simultaneous and lossless audio channels and renders from 5.1 up to 64 discrete speaker feeds. That means the destruction and monstrous roars are going to be the likes of which we've never heard before.

And finally, remember those images and videos of nuclear weapons strapped to trains that we covered earlier? Apparently they've caused quite a stir in Canada for those not in the Godzilla know. According to the Nanaimo Daily News, citizens were concerned by the realistic locked and loaded look of the prop missiles. So much so that Canadian Forces spokesman Kevin Carle had to go on record stating the Canadian military doesn't have nuclear weapons. Yep. Ludicrous but true. Godzilla publicist Ernie Malik says the props were likely made in BC, as the entire film was expected to be shot in this province, and were used in one scene.

Star Wars Episode 7 News Update: Will Animated Series 'Reclamation' Introduce J.J Abrams' New Film?

After numerous rumors about "Star Wars Episode VII" surfaced the web, pages from a mysterious "Star Wars" project entitled "Reclamation" appeared online.

Bleeding Cool posted six pages from what appears to be an official pitch for a new "Star Wars" animated series that would take place between 'Return of the Jedi' and the upcoming Episode 7.

According to the overview of the animated series the "Star Wars: Reclamation" is a "story designed to introduce the audience to themes and characters pivotal to Episode VII and beyond." The pages also described the broad overview of the show and its cast of characters, which include Leia Organa, Kala Calrissian and a Jedi knight named Sky Bonteri. The plot finds the struggling Republic still dealing witch pockets of resistance from Imperial loyalists fifteen years after the destruction of the second Death Star, but both sides are forced into an uneasy alliance when an army of billions of killer droids emerges from the depths of Coruscant, threatening anyone and everyone.

Billy Dee Williams campaigning to be in Star Wars 7

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are all but assured to be part of 'Star Wars: Episode 7' and it seems Anthony Daniels will be too, but what about Billy Dee Williams?
The actor, who played Lando Calrissian, took to his Facebook page to rally his fans and get them to tell Disney and LucasFilm that they want to see Lando return to the galaxy far far away.

Those running the page on Billy Dee's behalf wrote: "The best way to ensure that Billy Dee Williams will be in the new film is to FB, TWITTER, BLOG and tell Disney and Lucasfilm that you want to see LANDO again!"

This was then followed by a statement from the man himself, who said: "I am in the dark with the actual plans that Disney and Lucasfilm have for the future of the 'Star Wars' universe.
"I have heard the same rumors that the fans heard, that a new trilogy is being made, that spin-offs may be made, that we all [Mark, Carrie, Harrison and myself] are going to be reprising our roles in these projects."

It's not uncommon for actors to take to social media for support - it's how Vin Diesel got the latest Riddick film off the ground and Sylvester Stallone is very talkative about the 'Expendables' series.

Legendary Pictures Casting Children For GODZILLA In Los Angeles And Canada

It looks like Legendary Pictures is presently looking for kids for Godzilla to stomp on in scenes that will be filmed in Los Angeles and also in Canada. Check out this post featured on the Acting Auditions website:

The film's casting directors in Los Angeles and Canada are holding auditions for several starring roles. These roles are for boys ages 3-11 years of age. The youngest is a Caucasian boy to play a 4-year-old, the middle one is a Japanese boy to play 6 years of age, and the oldest is another Caucasian boy to play 10 years old. The actors do not have to be these exact ages, but can be a year older or younger. The extras will be cast in Vancouver close to the start of filming, which will run through June 22, 2013.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard T. Jones, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Patrick Sabongui, Brian Markinson, Juliette Binoche, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, and Ken Watanabe star.

Gareth Edwards is directing the film from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are serving as executive producers alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.

A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, Godzilla will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho Co., Ltd. Legendary Pictures is a division of Legendary Entertainment.

Slated to open on May 16, 2014, the film is expected to be presented in 3D.

In recent post we spoke about the familiar characters set for a return in JJ Abrams’ Star Wars Episode 7 cast, and it seems that the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are set to reprise their roles, so what new characters can we expect?

While fans question whether the next film will involve characters from the expanded universe Disney are giving us the impression there is no guarantee this will be the case. Therefore, a fresh story and new characters may not keep in line with what fans are led to believe.

It is worth considering what new faces will be involved in the next film and Digital Spy highlight Sam Witwer’s hopes of being called up for an opportunity to take up a role in the next film. Witwer, known for his part in the US remake of Being Human has some Star Wars related experience to his name, providing the voice of Darth Maul in The Clone Wars, and voicing Sith Lord apprentice Galen Marek (aka Starkiller) in various Star Wars video games.

Being a lifelong fan of the franchise, Witwer states how he would jump at the chance to audition for the new movie highlighting his love for everything Star Wars including the books and videogames. While fans of the Starkiller would love to see this introduced into the next film, it’s easy to see why a vast majority of actors would relish a part in Episode 7 and we recently mentioned the children of both Princess Leia and Han Solo if they continue to introduce twins Jaina and Jacen.

'Star Wars Episode 7' News Update : Could Disney and Paramount Fight Over J.J Abrams' Attention?

Ever since the election of J.J Abrams as the director of Star Wars, there has been criticism on how the director will manage with "Star Trek" and "Star Wars."

Recently in an interview with Empire Star Trek Into Darkness writer Richard Orci stated that Paramount and Disney may clash on how to promote their franchises. He stated "First I was happy for J.J., but I definitely felt a disturbance in the Force - which, incidentally, was first felt by Spock on the original series of Star Trek: when 400 Vulcans died he felt it across space, just like Ben Kenobi, but a decade ahead..."

He added "Anyway, we're all fans of Star Wars. Still, this is going to affect calendars and now it's two massive corporations having to vie for the right attention to each of these properties. But hopefully it will be fine.I don't know how much Paramount and other studios have to cooperate with each other. But I think everyone will explore every possibility fairly. And even if he goes completely Star Wars, we know now - he can't ever deny it - he is a big Star Trek fan!"

'Rites Of Spring' Preparing To Film On The Mississippi Gulf Coast

In preparation for the start of production, the producers of the monster movie, "Rites of Spring", are looking for local Mississippi Gulf Coast residents to fill 13 primary cast roles, more than 100 extras and even work behind the camera.

Producer Wes Benton, a Jackson Mississippi native, hopes to use the film to promote the area for future films, states, "We want the entire (Mississippi) Coast to benefit from what we’re trying to do. It’s a rich environment for untapped, unused resources as far as locations go.”

Benton describes the plot for "Rites" this way, “After abducting the son of a wealthy businessman, a group of kidnappers escape to an abandoned farmhouse, unaware they share their hideout with a supernatural creature preparing for its annual killing spree.”

Fellow producer, John Norris, also hints that there is more to the story than meets the eye, possibly even a moral message, “It’s really a cautionary tale, as well. Be careful what you ask for. These guys have gotten caught up in a situation where it just gets worse with every choice they make.”

As for the monster, Norris reveals that this time around the film makers wanted to keep it simple, “It’s really sort of a great combination of a kidnapping thrill movie and a supernatural creature movie. This is a classic monster. This is not something that can be explained away by science.”

Production on "Rites of Spring" is set to begin April 5th and run for about 20 days near Ocean Springs and Pass Christian, Mississippi. Before then the film makers will be accepting head shots and resumes for potential cast members from the local talent pool.
