DC Announces New Batman/Catwoman Series

From DC Comics

DC fans can expect an exciting future as the publisher revealed early details on its strategy for 2020, beginning with stories featuring tight, intertwined narratives across DC’s comic book lineup. Leading this charge into the future is Batman, the World’s Greatest Detective and a cornerstone of the DC universe.

Beginning in January 2020, DC’s ongoing BATMAN comic book, currently shipping twice-monthly, will return to a monthly schedule, allowing DC to incorporate the monthly BATMAN title into the larger DC universe and continuity. BATMAN will ship alongside a new 12-issue BATMAN/CATWOMAN series by Tom King and Clay Mann, while Bat-Family titles DETECTIVE COMICS, CATWOMAN, NIGHTWING, BATGIRL and others will continue into 2020 with no immediate changes to their shipping schedules.

“We’re making changes to our comic book publishing line to set DC up for continued success,” said DC’s editor-in-chief Bob Harras. “We’re starting with the bestselling BATMAN comic after ‘City of Bane’ wraps up in December. ‘City of Bane’ is an incredible story and an integral part of our overall ‘Year of the Villain’ campaign, and a new Tom King and Clay Mann Bat/Cat series in 2020 fills the gap once BATMAN begins to ship monthly.”

Featuring art by Tony S. Daniel, ’City of Bane’ kicks off in BATMAN #75 on July 17th, 2019, when, after three years being broken down by Bane, Bruce Wayne falls to his lowest point. Bane’s minions have moved into Gotham City, taken control and are ruling with an iron fist…and Batman is nowhere to be found. This extra-sized anniversary issue kicks off a storyline that ties together all the threads of the first 74 issues of Tom King’s epic BATMAN run. ’City of Bane’ will run 11 issues with artwork by series regulars Daniel, Mikel Janín and Mann, concluding in December 2019 with BATMAN #85.

“Batman and Catwoman is a chance to do what Morrison and Quietly did in Batman and Robin: launch an ambitious, accessible, beautiful, thrilling new series that concludes years of stories and defines what Batman is, can, and will be,” said Tom King. “This will be a comic about what the best Batman comics are always been about, how our greatest hero turns fear into bravery, pain into hope, trauma into love. It’s the story I always wanted to tell, and I’m telling it with the man I consider to be the greatest artist in comics, my brother Clay Mann.

“It’s tough to leave Batman,” added King. “It’s a gift and a joy to be on that book. But I’m leaving it to work on the biggest, most ambitious projects of my career, comics I get to make with the best collaborators in comics. And that’s a gift and a joy too.”

“We’re excited for fans to get more of what they love from DC,” said Harras. “With Joëlle Jones continuing on CATWOMAN, a new creative team on BATMAN, plus titles like DETECTIVE COMICS, BATGIRL, NIGHTWING, RED HOOD: OUTLAW and BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS, our Gotham City protectors and the talent behind them will continue to offer great stories that cater to the tastes of as many Bat-fans as possible in 2020 and beyond.”

Catwoman catches far more than she bargained for

From Atomic Robot Comics

Selina Kyle has been attempting to figure out what exactly her life looks like post-Gotham and post-Bruce Wayne. And if this week’s CATWOMAN #8 is any indication, the answer may be…a lot like that of another sometimes thief with a penchant for cracking whips. Yes, Selina is channeling her best Dr. Jones this month as she agrees to take on a one-time burglary for the Penguin in exchange for information on her friend Holly (and a sizable amount of cash). Oswald Cobblepot promises that it’ll be simple, with little to no risk.

Batman: Catwoman Says Yes to the Dress

From DC Comics

Talk to any bride and she’ll tell you, there’s nothing quite as challenging as finding the perfect dress. Pushy salespeople, opinionated family members and friends, rising price tags and the knowledge that the wrong choice will haunt you for the rest of your life—it’s one of the most stressful experiences you'll ever undertake.

Or you can do it Selina-style, and say yes to the dress while saying “NO!” to all the rest. (Of course, you might also get arrested…so there’s that. But jail may actually prove to be less costly than an average wedding these days.) In this week’s BATMAN #44, which poignantly sets up this summer’s big wedding, we witness Selina’s search for the dress while simultaneously getting glimpses of Catwoman and Batman’s past as seen from Bruce’s point of view. It’s a little bit of “Something Old, Something New…” as only the brilliant Tom King can tell it, and while it may not make blushing brides of us all, it IS likely to get us to fall in love with these two characters all over again. Enjoy this exclusive first look!

A Special Preview Of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES On IMAX Screens Dec 16th

Source: Warner Bros

Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises"—the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy—is one of the most anticipated films of 2012, but moviegoers won't have to wait until next year to see the six-minute opening sequence of the film. The film's prologue will be unveiled exclusively in select 70mm IMAX® theatres worldwide. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Prologue will be released in North America on December 16, and in the UK on December 21, 2011. Additional international dates vary by territory and will be announced soon.

In making the 2008 blockbuster "The Dark Knight," Nolan was the first to use IMAX® cameras in a major motion picture release, and, as now, audiences were given an advance look at that film's prologue months prior to the Summer 2008 opening. Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively on "The Dark Knight Rises"—including the film's prologue—to achieve unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for the moviegoers.

Christopher Nolan stated, "Our experience on 'The Dark Knight' shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer."

Charlize Theron And Ashley Judd Also Want To Be Catwoman

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: WENN

I almost made it a entire month without mentioning another actress linked to playing Catwoman. I almost made it.

Isn't it fun sitting back watching actresses clawing each others eyes out for a part, that reportedly doesn't exist, in a movie movie that reportedly doesn't even have a script yet? Such is the case with the role of Catwoman, which, like I just mentioned, hasn't even been confirmed as a villain in Christopher Nolan's upcoming sequel to "The Dark Knight".

Let's do, yet, another role call of feline wannabes: Megan Fox, Cher, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Rachel Weisz and even the actress who played the character in the 1992 film "Batman Returns", Michelle Pfeiffer.

Okay, now let's add two more names to the pile, Charlize Theron and Ashley Judd.

According to sources, Theron is 'desperate' to play the part, quipping, "I think what has happened to that franchise is amazing. (Batman filmmaker) Chris Nolan is a genius. I would be an idiot to not consider that part."

Actually the casting of Theron, would make some sense, considering the fact that she has already played a similar character in the live-action movie based on the animated series, "Aeon Flux".

As far as Ashley Judd is concerned, well I really don't have much on that, it seems her desire to put on the latex and prowl around somehow got under my radar.

Pretty soon it will be easier to list the actresses who 'don't' want to play Catwoman in these articles. I think every female in Hollywood, who has ever spent more than two seconds in front of the camera, will be in line, when, and if, Nolan decides to put the character in his movie, which is supposed to be called "Gotham", but that hasn't been confirmed yet either.

"I'm looking forward to seeing as many of my 'batties' as possible from coast to coast next year at all the Wizard run Comic Con shows across the country," said Adam West, actor, the original Batman and comic icon. 'Holy BS Batman! Casting Rumors Are Nothing More Than The Riddler's Tricks!'

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: WENN

Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Cher and Kate Beckinsale as Catwoman. Shia Labeouf, Johnny Depp and Eddie Murphy as The Riddler. You know what it all adds up to? Mule Muffins! Well, at least that's what the executives at Warner Bros want you to think, and maybe they're right.

Hot on the heels of the latest Batman movie rumor, that actress Megan Fox has landed the role of Catwoman, the big cheese at Warners have felt that enough is enough, and have now spoke out on the matter.

An unnamed source has made it clear that the studio does indeed want to shoot another Batman movie, and that the project is in the very early stages, and most importantly, the producers haven't even discussed casting yet.

The representative told People.com, "It's a rumour (The Casting of Megan Fox). It's not true. There is no script. There is no project to be cast in."

It's really hard to get a good feel on what exactly is fact, and what is fiction, in this case. It would stand to reason that even if any of the rumors that have been published were true, Warner Bros would deny them, just to keep information regarding the production a secret.

Some of the stuff has even come from reputable sources, like Sir Michael Caine, who let it slip a few months back that indeed The Riddler would be in the film. Other casting rumors have come from the actors themselves, yet, Warner Bros insists it's all bull.

Maybe it is all crapola, then again maybe Cher is going to be Catwoman? Who the heck knows? Well, probably Christopher Nolan, and he ain't talkin.

Megan Fox Cast As Catwoman In "Gotham"?

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: WENN

For months now there has be speculation on whether Catwoman would appear in Christopher Nolan's follow-up to the mega-hit "The Dark Knight", reportedly called "Gotham." Along with this speculation has come a long list of potential femme felines that includes Cher, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Rachel Weisz and even the actress who played the character in the 1992 film "Batman Returns", Michelle Pfeiffer.

Today the British tabloid, The Sun, is reporting that Megan Fox has landed the role and will be on set alongside Christian Bale and Michael Caine when filming begins early next year.

Undoubtedly, adding Fox to the film would be a 'hot' ticket item, as if a film like 'Gotham' needed one, that would get more fanboys in the seats, as if just the fact that it is a Christopher Nolan 'Batman' film wasn't enough.

Now, I don't think that I need to point out the fact that this news comes from The Sun, a tabloid, so obviously this could just be fodder.

Fox is set to make young men drool all over themselves in the upcoming dark comedy "Jennifer's Body", which will be released September 18th.

No word on whether Eddy Murphy will be playing The Riddler yet. No....really....that's the rumor.

Michelle Pfeiffer Wants Her Cat Suite Back

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: WENN

Michelle Pfeiffer was okay with letting Halle Berry borrow the Catwoman costume for one movie, but now she wants it back. The actress, who played Batman's infamous nemesis in the 1992 movie "Batman Returns", wants her name added to the growing list of potential Catwomen for Christopher Nolan's upcoming film "Gotham."

Nolan hasn't even publicly acknowledged that Catwoman will even be in his sequel to the hugely popular movie "The Dark Knight", yet actresses have been lining up around the block for the coveted role. Let's see, so far, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Rachel Weisz and even Cher, have been in some way attached to the part.

So why not Michelle Pfeiffer?

Pfeiffer recently told a reporter for Moviefone, "It would be really fun. I don't think that's going to happen. I think they like to get a new face for the different characters, and I understand it. But yeah, that was really fun. I had a good time."

I agree with Pfeiffer, odds are, if Nolan indeed plans to have Catwoman in his next movie, he will probably find someone new, and different for the role. If he follows his pattern of casting characters from the first two "Batman" films, then he will probably find a really good method actress, someone who will be willing to literally become the part.

Besides, I really don't think that Pfeiffer would be a good match for Eddie Murphy's Riddler......lol

Kate Beckinsale Wants The Catwoman Role For Herself

Written By: Ken Hulsey

Okay, before I get into this, I want to mention that this info comes from WENN, which I am starting to call "The Bureau of Miss-Information."

From the second that "The Dark Knight" hit theaters this past summer, there has been a swell of rumors surrounding the next Batman movie. Just about all of these rumors have been in regards to the "Catwoman" character and the actress who could play her. For months Christopher Nolan denied that he was even going to make another movie. Regardless the names kept a coming. First there was Cher, then there was Angelina Jolie, and as of last week Rachel Weisz was supposed to have landed the coveted role.

Well here we go, yet again. Now Kate Beckinsale is eying a date with a tight spandex cat suite. The actress, best known for the "Underworld" films wants to add more action roles to her resume a she thinks playing "Catwoman" in the upcoming "Gotham" film would be just the ticket.

So far there has been no official talk between Nolan and Beckinsale, that anyone knows about, but that isn't stopping the actress from making her interest known publicly.

Beckinsale recently told MTV.com, "Absolutely, that would be awesome. I'd love to do that." She then went on to talk about what a surprise it was for her to land the lead role in "Underworld," because she never was a very physical person, "One of the things I've done wrong with my career is not have a massive game plan for it. I was very surprised to ever find myself even considered for an action movie. I'm like the literary, academic geek who's not very good at sports, so it was amazingly shocking that anyone would ever do that. I like to be surprised."

Weisz, Beckinsale, Jolie or Cher? My God, what a mess. There hasn't even been any official word that "Catwoman" will even be in the film.

Then of course, there is that whole Eddie Murphy as "The Riddler" junk. Man I hope that isn't true!

"Gotham" was only announced a week ago and already my head is starting to spin.

Murphy As The Riddler? Weisz As Catwoman? Labeouf As Robin? Here We Go Again!

You know that Batman sequel that Christopher Nolan has been denying for months, well now it reportedly has a cast and a title. According to sources close to Nolan, the film will be titled, "Gotham" and will feature Rachel Weisz as Catwoman, Eddie Murphy as The Riddler and Shia Labeouf as Batman's trusted sidekick Robin.

As recently as October Nolan was making public statements that he wasn't sure that he even wanted to make a third Batman movie, worrying that he couldn't pull off a decent film.

Things reportedly changed in the Nolan camp, and changed in a hurry.

Weisz is the latest of the names to associated with the Catwoman character. For months it was believed that Angelina Jolie was the front-runner for the part. At one time even Cher's name was reported to be on the short-list. Weisz, however, now seems to be a lock.

It is interesting to note that Christopher Nolan didn't want to do a third film because third films generally "suck" (Those are his words), yet by bringing in three new characters, he seems to be following the same formula for disaster. Fans often refer to the adding too many elements into one films as the "Too Many Villains Syndrome." What generally happens here is that too many new characters get put into one film, limiting their character development, which bogs down the films plot. Examples of this are, "Spider-man 3", "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin." Fans generally point out that the best superhero films almost always feature one villain.

"Gotham" is scheduled to hit theaters in 2010.

Christopher Nolan Still Denying That There Will Be Another Batman Sequel

Written By: Ken Hulsey

Christopher Nolan is still publicly denying that there is a sequel to "The Dark Knight" in the works. Recently he told the Los Angeles Times that making a third movie in a series is too difficult to pull off correctly and that generally movies of that type...well suck, "On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven't been too many of those either."

Despite Nolan's insistence that he doesn't want to be involved in a crappy "Batman" movie, rumors have been circling to the contrary.

This past August Angelina Jolie made it very public that she wanted the role of "Catwoman" in a potential new "Batman" movie. It was disclosed at that time that Jolie had been seeking advice on how to play the character from both former "Catwoman", Julie Newmar and adult actress Tera Patrick.

In even a stranger related story, it was published in People magazine that Nolan had already hand picked Cher for the role of "Catwoman."

Why all this "Catwoman" talk for a movie that reportedly isn't even on the drawing board at this point?

Nolan went on to add that he hasn't slammed the door shut on any future "Batman" films as of yet, "Is there a story that's going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That's the overriding question. It's all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible.."

Angelina Jolie Turns To Tera Patrick For Catwoman Advice

Source: WENN

Is Angelina Jolie going to be Catwoman in the next Batman movie? At this point it isn't set in stone, but she has been asking for advice on taking on the role from an unlikely source, porn star Tera Patrick.

The Lara Croft star is said to be keen to sign up for the part if the Catwoman character is resurrected in a future Batman sequel by Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.

Jolie has even been tipped for the role by Julie Newmar, who played the original feline villain in the 1960s Batman TV series.

And the sexy star has been discussing her possible portrayal of the character with porn star pal Patrick, who is a huge fan of the role, according to New York gossip column PageSix.

A source tells the publication, "They are friends and keep in touch via e-mail. She and Angie have a girl-talk thing going.

"After seeing reports that she'll land the lead role, Jolie asked Patrick what she thought. Tera had such insights into the role that Jolie cracked, 'You should do it!' "
