Strange Humanoid Sea Creature Filmed Off Huntington Beach
Real Mermaid or Monster?
It looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon was caught swimming off the California coast recently.

A BIZARRE creature sparked terror on the shores after beachgoers failed to identify what was heading their way.
Video footage shows the mysterious incident that occurred over this weekend.
One man, identified as George, was enjoying a day out on Huntington Beach in California, US, when he was faced with an unusual scene.
The clip shows the “human-like” animal as it breaches the surface of the water.
An arm appears to be raised and you can make out what looks like a face too.
“And that is exactly why I never go in the sea,” one admitted.
Another added: “Did the Loch Ness Monster go on holiday?”
And a third claimed: “Mermaid/Merman. Looks part human. But then again, nowadays, who knows?”

HAS THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY MONSTER RETURNED?
From MIN Mysteries
Many of you may be surprised to learn that people have been seeing something that resembles "The Loch Ness Monster" in the San Francisco Bay since the 1800s. Indeed there are hundreds of forms of marine animals and fish that call the area home and, reportedly, some form(s) of aquatic dinosaur(s) may be among their ranks.
For Bill and Bob Clark there is no doubt about it. Since their first encounter with one of these relics from the prehistoric past in 1985 the brothers have seen such creatures several times and cataloged numerous sightings from other eye witnesses.
Their first encounter came while the brothers were watching sea lions swimming in the bay. Without any warning something that resembled a Plesiosaurus (A species of aquatic dinosaur with a long neck, thick body, and flippers) shot out of the water in an attempt to snag one of the mammals.

Their first encounter came while the brothers were watching sea lions swimming in the bay. Without any warning something that resembled a Plesiosaurus (A species of aquatic dinosaur with a long neck, thick body, and flippers) shot out of the water in an attempt to snag one of the mammals.
"When it got within a few yards of the group of sea lions it suddenly raised its head and a portion of its body approximately 10 feet straight up out of the water and then it lunged forward into the group of sea lions."
Since that chance encounter the creature has become an obsession to find out just what exactly they witnessed.
Today, the Clark brothers have been kind enough to share the latest report of such a creature in the waters off San Francisco. The report comes from a former Marine Corps pilot that has had extensive experience flying up and down the California coast and I have seen whales, porpoise, sharks, and sea lions from the air who wishes to remain anonymous.
The report reads:
"I travel between Sacramento and San Francisco several times a month. On my way back from San Francisco early this afternoon on the Carquinez Bridge, I noticed a curious black object in the water just west of the bridge. I was driving east bound and looking to my left and I could see underneath and slightly west of the west bound bridge when I noticed the object. It was black, not shiny but not dull, either. It was sort of hump shaped. Understand that I only caught sight of this object for several seconds as I was driving away from it, now looking back over my left shoulder. In those several seconds I observed the following:
The object was black, smooth, and hump shaped.
Hard to judge size as there was nothing man made near it but I would estimate the object to be approximately 4’ long and 2-3’ wide..
The object did not seem to be moving.
It slowly sank vertically out of sight in the few seconds I observed it.
I noticed no horizontal movement, no splashing, no wake. I have seen porpoise and whales but never in the Straight and they are typically a grey or dark grey in color. There was no dorsal fin.
The water was fairly calm and there were no ships or boats in the straight. No wake was evident. The day was partly sunny and warm. It was about 1:15 PM."
The former pilot also added," I am fairly certain what I saw was not any sea mammal I am familiar with. I don’t really know what I saw but it was very strange, especially so close to the bridge."
Sightings of such creatures have been reported all along the California coast for decades, so what our former pilot witnessed is not without merit. It should also be noted that several California lakes reportedly have their own version of "Nessie" lurking under the surface. People have claimed to see such animals in both Elisabeth Lake and Lake Elsinore .. though the later is actually a man made lake.
If indeed living dinosaurs live off the California coast, the San Francisco Bay would be an ideal place for them to live due to the overwhelming amount of food in the area.

Mysterious 13-foot sea creature washes up on beach in Spain, baffles experts
‘We have no idea what it can be, but it smelled bad,’ said Spanish official. Some experts who have seen photos believe it to be the remains of a shark.
The ocean is filled with mysteries, and one of them has washed up on a beach in Spain.
An unidentified creature discovered on the coast near Villaricos has experts scratching their heads — and holding their noses.
“We have no idea what it can be, but it smelled bad, because it was so badly decomposed,” Civil Protection coordinator María Sánchez told the local media.
Experts with the Program in Defense of Marine Animals are “trying to find out what it could be,” she added.

What The Hell Is This?
Look out New Jersey a giant penis with a mouth like a shark is hiding in your water!
Source: The Blaze
This photo of a creepy-looking “alien-like” creature found in New Jersey has gone viral on Reddit, registering more than 400,000 views in just six hours after being posted Friday. And before you write the photo off as a fake, keep reading to hear the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) confirm the creature in the photo appears to be real.
According to the New York DEC, the creature, which unfortunately met its end after a sharp spear pierced its body, appears to be a very large sea lamprey.
“The photo doesn’t allow counting of gill openings (seven per side for sea lamprey), but based on size alone, this does appear to be a sea lamprey,” a spokeswoman for the agency told GrindTV.com.
However, it should still be noted that there is always the possibility the picture has been photoshopped to make the sea lamprey look larger, or it could just be the camera angle.
Sea lampreys are eel-like, jawless, boneless parasites equipped with mouths full of sharp teeth and a file-like tongue, according to the NY Department of Environmental Conservation. As if they weren’t creepy enough, juvenile lampreys apparently latch onto other fish and drain them of bodily fluids. “Most often, the prey, or host fish, dies as a result of either blood loss or infection,” GrindTV.com notes, which accurately labeled the creature “alien-like.”
“It sucks the life out of fish,” one Redditor commented.
Before moving out to sea to live off a host fish, sea lampreys spend their “egg and larval stages” in fresh water. They become parasitic once their bodies form and they are ready to go out to sea.

Ogopogo Caught On Tape!

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Youtube
Vancouver native Richard Huls (no he's not a relative) got more than he bargained for this past weekend when he visited a winery on the shores of British Columbia's lake Lake Okanagan. Besides enjoying a little wine tasting he also managed to spot and film the lakes most famous and mysterious resident Ogopogo or Canada's Loch Ness Monster.
“It was not going with the waves," He told the Vancouver Sun. “It was not a wave, obviously, just a darker color. The size and the fact that they were not parallel with the waves made me think it had to be something else.”
Did Huls video a monster or just waves? You make the call:
History:
Ogopogo or Naitaka (Salish: n'ha-a-itk, "lake demon") is the name given to a cryptid lake monster reported to live in Okanagan Lake, in British Columbia, Canada. Ogopogo has been allegedly seen by First Nations people since the 19th century. The most common description of Ogopogo is a forty- to fifty-foot-long (12 to 15 m) sea serpent. It has supposedly been photographed and caught on tape.
In 1926 a sighting is claimed to have occurred at an Okanagan Mission beach. This event was supposedly witnessed by about thirty cars of people who all claimed to have seen the same thing. In 1968 Art Folden filmed what is claimed to be footage of the alleged creature, showing a large wake moving across the water. A computer analysis of the footage concluded it was a solid, three-dimensional object.
British cryptozoologist Karl Shuker has categorized the Ogopogo as a 'many hump' variety of lake monster, and suggested it may be a kind of primitive serpentine whale such as Basilosaurus. However, because the physical evidence for the beast is limited to unclear photographs and film, it has also been suggested that the sightings are misidentifications of common animals, such as otters, and inanimate objects, such as floating logs.
Think that's cool? Check out this other rather anonymous video of a sea monster that has surfaced on Youtube:

Chupacabras Alert: 300 Goats Mysteriously Slaughtered in Mexico
AOL News
Shepherds in Mexico are up in arms -- or heads, as the case may be -- over a rash of beheadings inflicted on their goats, and many people are blaming the legendary predator known as the chupacabra.
Over the past two months, more than 300 goats owned by shepherds in Mexico's Puebla state have been decapitated by someone, or something, that hasn't yet been tracked down.
According to various reports, Felix Martinez, president of Colonia San Martin, recently stated that nearly 40 goats were killed near his municipality. Strangely, there was reportedly very little evidence of blood in the area where the goat bodies were found -- throwing suspicion on an unknown animal or chupacabra.
Dead goats are seen in this photo from Argonmexico.com. The villagers claim the goats were slain by a chupacabra. The chupacabra falls into the cryptozoological category of cryptids, a term used to describe animals that haven't yet been confirmed by science, like the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot.
Chupacabra sightings often emanate from the Southwest U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America and Mexico, and the animal is thought to attack livestock, leaving behind puncture wounds after it drains their blood.

Normandy Nessie: has the mysterious sea creature returned?10 Connects
A family vacationing from Ohio says they spotted what they describe as a 30-foot long serpent like creature swimming in the water off Sand Key Park on Monday.
Was it another sighting of Normandy Nessie, the Bay area's version of the Loch Ness Sea Monster?
Russ Sittloh, who first video taped a mysterious black 20-foot long creature in the canal behind his Madeira Beach home more than a year ago, believes it could be Normandy Nessie.
Sittloh named the creature Normandy, after the road he lives on.

Something slimy this way comes
Canada.com
There could be a very large creature swimming in the depths of Cameron Lake off of Highway 4 and one cryptozoologist is trying to find out exactly what it is.
On Sept. 19, 2009 John Kirk started to conduct initial research through an expedition at Cameron Lake. He is trying to identify an aquatic animal that was first archived in a 2007 photo. The photo seems to show three objects swimming in a circle.
"I'm not ready to say what it is, or if it's a monster, but there's something there and it's very large--certainly larger than any trout or lake fish," Kirk, co-founder of the BC Scientific Cryptozoology Club, said in a media release.
Kirk and members of the club have since analyzed the collected data and determined the sonar strike was consistent with a three metre-in-length animal, at least.

Another Close Range Encounter with a Thunderbird Near South Greensburg, Pennsylvania?
Salem-News.Com
On the evening of August 26, 2010, about 8:10 pm, there was a sighting of a monstrous bird in South Greensburg, PA.
Just as it was getting dark, four people were sitting around in the yard having a barbecue and enjoying the beautiful weather when suddenly, their attention was drawn skyward by a sound like a “swish” or a “swoosh” or as one witness stated, “like air coming straight down.”
Several of the observers at almost the same time yelled out some exclamations including one man who said, “What the hell is that?”
They were all startled to see a tremendously large bird that was flying over a tree in the yard about 30-40 feet overhead. The man who was doing the cooking turned and looked up to see the creature fly above him at a distance of about 40 feet away.
As the bird passed the tree, it veered slightly to the right and went straight down the road ahead, maintaining its low level path.
When first observed, the massive wings of the creature were in an upward position and were beginning to drop slowly, almost as if they were rolling to the bottom. The swoosh sound could be heard when the wings were moving.

The Radford Files: Seeking the Puerto Rican Chupacabra
Weekly Alibi
The chupacabra hasn’t reared its ugly head in Albuquerque lately. In fact, it’s been almost exactly three years since the last local sighting on the Westside. But many believe the creatures are out there, sucking the blood from goats (chupacabra means “goatsucker” in Spanish) and other livestock. Descriptions of the chupacabra vary widely, but the typical version is a creature 4 to 5 feet tall. It has short, powerful legs, long claws, and terrifying black or glowing red eyes. Some claim it has spikes down its back; others report seeing stubby, bat-like wings.
The chupacabra was first seen in 1995, and believers say it is the result of secret U.S. government experiments in the jungles of Puerto Rico. It had a heyday of about five years when it was widely reported in Latin America, Florida and elsewhere. Reports have dropped dramatically, except for occasional sightings of animals in Texas resembling hairless dogs or coyotes.
I have spent much of the past five years investigating the chupacabra, including an expedition into the jungles of Nicaragua and trips to Texas for the “MonsterQuest” TV show. By 2009, my research had unearthed central facts about the chupacabra, save perhaps the most important: its origin. Why was the goatsucker first sighted in 1995 and not before? Animals simply do not appear out of thin air.
To get answers about where the chupacabra came from, I visited its birthplace, Puerto Rico. I began by interviewing the woman who first sighted the monster, and whose eyewitness description was the basis for the most famous drawing of it in the world.

Bigfoot Caught On Tape In Fly Fishing DocumentaryBFRO
This YouTube video shot in 2008 briefly shows what may be a sasquatch in central Oregon, on the McKenzie River. At this stage it is just a "figure of interest". A dark, long-armed figure stood up and walked away from the edge of the river as the two whitewater row boats passed by. The cameraman was shooting a YouTube installment for a fly fisherman's blog site.
Oregon bigfoot investigator Cliff Barackman will find out the technical details from the cameraman, and ask him to submit a full report to the BFRO's database. That has not happened yet, so we don't know all the details at this point.
It appears from the video that the rowers didn't notice the movement on the river bank. Understandably, they were focused on running the rapids, and the cameraman was focused on keeping the other boat in frame.
The location of the incident, and the physical appearance of the figure, and the behavior of the figure are consistent with a sasquatch. Nothing about the figure, or the incident in general, points to a hoax or a case of mistaken identity.
Here is the video, watch the left-hand side of the screen at the 1:41 mark:

Possible vocalizations heard in the Bradshaw Mountains (w/recordings)
look, I will say first that I really like this campsite and dont want a bunch of random freaks going up there to look for bigfoot or whatever. you guys are professional about this, it seems, so if you want to go there, no worries. but i'd prefer if you didnt give the exact location out.
long story short, I was camping up there over this past weekend. heard something really weird on friday night. really creepy too. ive heard all kinds of coyote calls and this was not coyotes, im certain. not a bird either. not an elk, deer, no kind of big cat. couldnt be wolf because there arent any wolves around here. didnt sound like a wolf anyway.
I don't dis-believe in bigfoot, not a cynic or anything. so if someone more informed than me listens to these recordings and tells me its a coyote then okay, great. but this was WEIRD. it was NOT a canine type sound. anyway, i was in the tent when I recorded the sounds, so there is static, but you can still hear pretty well. I will upload them to my computer tomorrow and send them to you guys if youre interested.

Nighttime sighting at City Lake Park outside Sullivan
This past October I was walking along Mattox Dr, by City Lake Park in Sullivan Missouri. It was around 11, 11 20 PM on a Thursday night and the park is remote and empty on a night like that. I am 29 and stand 6 foot 6 inches. My vision is 15/20 in my left eye, better than normal. As I came around the curb, I had the National Preserve, Meramec State Park to my right. As I looked ahead some 70 to 100 feet and I saw this tall monkey with long legs go by under one of the lights. I immediately looked to my right at the three line as fear overwhelmed my body. I turned around, pacing myself back towards town, trying to make sense of what I saw. It stood about 7 feet, and it was hairy, the hair of the arms was hanging 3, to 4 inches, it was the only part of the silhouette that was clearly hairy and I could notice clearly that it had ape like hairy arms. I went back to the house and researched the subject on you tube, but most of the videos showed a much heavier set creature. A lot of people that I talked to just can not believe me. Last night I came across the Jacobs video and the similarity struck me.

Daylight sighting of a white-haired Bigfoot in a yard outside Lonedell
My four year old son and I were visiting my parents who lived in Lonedell, Missouri. My mother was napping, my father was at work (he helped farm there on the land--they lived in a trailer on the about 350 acres owned by their landlord).
I was sitting on the front porch with my son and my parent's dog, Buddy. It was mid-afternoon, probably between 1 and 3 pm. I noticed something or someone walking in the field connected to the front yard coming in our direction. My first instinct was to get my baby and get inside. However, I could not help but stand in the doorway, screen door closed but the wooden door open just enough for me to peer through. Whatever that thing was, it kept coming closer to the trailer. By this time, Buddy (the dog) was timidly barking. I could tell from his bark that he was threatened but afraid. I felt bad leaving the dog out on the porch alone, but was too afraid to go out there.
The thing (for lack of a known word to call what it was that I saw)was walking, on two legs, aimlessly, not in a hurry and I could not find a reason as to why it came into the yard as it was just looking around aimlessly and leisurely walking. There was a wooden fence, mostly for decoration and only about 20 feet long, that the thing walked next to. My mother had some decorations (can't remember what) hanging on the fence that the thing seemed to look at.
The dog barking did not startle the creature, it just kept walking.

Woman describes vivid early morning sighting just below Independence
I am currently on a contract in Rifle Colorado. My home is 5 1/2 hrs south of Rifle so I stay in my camper 5 days a week. This morning, I left my home at 0245 as per usual. I stopped in Buena Vista to fuel up and get a coffee. As I came thru the little town of Twin Lakes, I was just feeling tired and the more I drove, the sleepier I got. So before I started up Independence Pass, I thought I would pull over and get some fresh air. (I had just noted that it was 36 degrees on the truck temp. gauge and even took a picture of it on my phone, to send to my brother in Virginia). I pulled over to the left side of the road. As I got out of the truck, I noticed movement in the meadow directly in front of me. Not more than 3-4 miles below here, I had just seen a buck deer so I was thinking that I had probably flushed another deer. As I walked to the rear of my truck, I continued to look out in the meadow and that is when I saw this thing move. At first I thought it was a bear but it rose straight up and that is when I knew it wasn't a bear. A bear's front legs hang in front of their belly when they stand and these did not. The "arms" hung to the sides just like a person. Only if this was a person, he was really tall. It was furry and a deep brown/red in color.

Do Dinosaurs Inhabit The Waters Off The UK Coast?
Written By: Ken HulseySource: The Sun
For centuries, strange creatures that resemble aquatic dinosaurs have, allegedly, been washing ashore in the UK. One of the most famous of these was the infamous "Gurock Beast" whose body washed shore during the second world war. Several eyewitnesses described the creature as having a long neck, wide body, short tail, and flippers, a description that strongly resembles a Plesiosaur, a species of aquatic dinosaur which went extinct millions of years ago.
Unfortunately, the carcass of the "Gurock Beast" was quickly chopped up and disposed of by the British military, who were, rightfully so, more concerned about defending the island nation from the Nazis than proving that dinosaurs were still with us.
Amazingly, it is a creature with a long neck, wide body, short tail, and flippers, that was reportedly seen by several witnesses off the coast of Devon just yesterday.
Reportedly the mysterious creature was 'fishing' some 30-yards off the coast when it was spotted by some local residents. At first, the group believed the animal to be a very large sea turtle, that was, until a long neck with a reptilian head came out of the water snapping at a school of fish.
Reportedly, when this happened, the fish scattered like mad, with some even trying to escape the creature by trying to come onto the sandy beach.
One of the witnesses, Gill Pearce, had the forethought to snap a quick photo of the animal before it swam away, and to file a report with the Marine Conservation Society.
Clare Fischer from the MCS describes what Ms. Gill saw:
"Gill Pearce spotted the creature about 20 metres from the bay at Saltern Cove, near Goodrington.
"It was observed at about 15.30 on 27 July but by the time she had got her camera it had moved further out.
"She spotted it following a shoal of fish which beached themselves in Saltern Cove.
"The creature remained in the sea, then went out again and followed the shoal - this indicates it's not a turtle as they only eat jellyfish.
"We would love to know if other people have seen anything like this in the same area and can help clear up the mystery."
Experts at the MCS are baffled by the reports coming out of Saltern Cove. The creature being described by witnesses doesn't match any marine life that is known to inhabit the waters off the British isles.
Did these witnesses see a young Plesiosaur?

WILLATUK: THE LEGEND OF SEATTLE'S SEA SERPENT Earns A STIFFY At Seattle Indie Fest
Written By: Ken HulseySources: Willatuk.com / The Seattle Times
When people think of Seattle three things come to mind, the Space Needle, Starbucks Coffee and Grundge Rock.
Me, I think of that Bikini Coffee Shop that was on Food Network a while back....but that's because .......um.......I love coffee.
Anyway, the city that made really good caffeinated beverages and garage bands house hold names is a bout to have another claim to fame, the "Willatuk Sea Serpent."
Never heard of it? Not too surprising, for decades the monster has been living in the shadow of Seattle's other, more famous, monstrosities, Sasquatch, the Seahawks, Mariners, and the ghost of Kurt Cobain.
For centuries, the Native Americans around Puget Sound have encountered what can only be described as a living dinosaur. As the legend goes, the first tribes to encounter the creature lived in fear of it, even tried to hunt it down, but as the decades past, the mysterious monster became regarded as 'sacred'. There are even stories of the monster coming to the aide of the Indians to drive away packs of wild wolves.
Had ya going there for a second didn't I?
Okay, there is no "Willatuk Sea Serpent". The monster is actually the brain-child of Seattle film maker Oliver Tuthill Jr, who decided to create his own legend, combining his fascination with the "Loch Ness Monster", Native American culture and history.
Though the Pacific Northwest has many legends of sea monsters, Tuthill wanted to do something different and mapped out a three-hundred year history as a back story for his film.
For three years the film maker, and producer Dan Schwert, threw their heart, soul, and bank accounts into "Willatuk". Though their monster movie was a small-scale production, the two Seattle natives were able to land two big-name players for the production, Washington Congressman Jim McDermott and Academy Award-nominated actor Graham Greene ("Dances With Wolves") as the film's narrator.
Plot:
Now, for the first time, an in-depth look at the mysterious creature living within Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Willatuk: The Legend of Seattle's Sea Serpent explores the myth and saga of this massive aquatic animal and the impact it has had on people's lives.
Learn how Native Americans first sighted the creature in 1736 swimming off present-day Puget Sound and how white trappers first encountered Willatuk in 1818 on the shores of Lake Washington.
Learn the secrets of huge underwater caverns, which Willatuk uses deep within the waters of Lake Washington.
Hear how Willatuk is being hunted as prize game in the Northwest waters it calls home.
No other sea serpent in the world has also been spotted in fresh lake water. This is why the Wonkatilla tribe view Willatuk as a metaphor for a more tranquil time when humans lived in harmony with the natural world. This film explores that philosophy and shows how Native Americans view pollution, over-population, and those who hunt this noble creature for thrills and fame as threats that will ultimately lead to the end of Willatuk.
History:
The sea serpent Willatuk was first sighted in 1736 near present-day Seattle. Since then, hundreds of people have glimpsed this creature, some recording what they saw in simple drawings and hurried snapshots.
What is Willatuk?
Willatuk is a huge aquatic animal, similar to a plesiosaur, who is at home in both the fresh water of Lake Washington and the salt water of Puget Sound.
For the film, Tuthill and Schwert took a page out of the late Charles Pierce's book for "The Legend of Boggy Creek", and shot the whole thing as a straight-forward documentary with recreations (though fictitious) of encounters with the monster.
This past weekend, "Willatuk: The Legend of Seattle's Sea Serpent", won the STIFFY for 'best movie monster' at the Seattle's True Independent Film Festival (STIFF).
If I had started this article out with, "Blue Wood Films (Tuthill and Schwert's production company) wins a STIFFY", you wouldn't take this thing seriously.........would you?
I thought not.

Hunting For Monsters And Other Unexplained Mysteries In My Own Backyard
Written By: Ken HulseyIn various articles about strange phenomena and mysterious creatures I have mentioned how my family and I are huge fans of such television programs as "Ghost Hunters", "Monster Quest" and "Destination Truth". Now as luck would have it, I stumbled upon a very interesting book at my local Barnes and Noble called "Weird California" written by Greg Bishop, Joe Oesterle and many others. Come to find out, while Josh Gates of "Destination Truth" regularly jets off from Los Angeles to points across the globe to search for the Yeti, or ghosts in King Tut's tomb, there are about a zillion such mysteries here in his (our)(I also reside in CA) very own backyard.
Now, this is not going to be a shameless plug for the "Weird California" book, though I do recommend you pick up a copy, especially if you reside here in Wackyfornia, and I am providing a link from Amazon where you can purchase it.
I will, however, be featuring articles about subjects I pull from the book and other sources, over the next few months for my new "Hunting For Monsters And Other Unexplained Mysteries In My Own Backyard" series of articles here at Monster Island News.
I plan to do a lot of research, and go out and explore (with my reluctant son, and wife, in tow no doubt) some these fascinating anomalies for myself. It should be great fun!
Though I have just begun ready into some of these local California mysteries and legends, I have been really fascinated by how many of these reports seem very similar and in some way could be connected.
Case in point, the mysterious 'Lizard People' that turn up in the legends of several Native American tribes across the state. Could these "Reptoids" be connected to Charles Wetzel's report of a strange creature near Riverside in 1958? Would Indians describe 'Grey Aliens' as 'Lizard People'? and if so, does that tie-in with the numerous UFO and USO sightings in, and around, areas that these creatures are fabled to dwell?
Does their reported thirteen settlements across the state include one under Los Angeles, which G. Warren Shufelt spent his life looking for?
Is there a wrecked Spanish sailing ship full of pearls in the middle of the desert? Do the sand dunes sing? What is the mystery around Zzyzx, a town off the 15 freeway on the way to Las Vegas that I must have sped past a hundred times?
All good questions, well worth my spare time to get to the bottom of.
What makes me qualified for this task of getting to the bottom of California's legends? Well....I have seen Bigfoot, I saw a wax banana fly across a kitchen and I've seen a lot of things in the sky I can't explain.
Okay, that stuff made me sound like a complete nut-job. Honestly, I'm just a guy that has seen, and experienced, more strange things in his life than he has answers for, and this has sparked a flame of curiosity in my soul that I can't make go away.
I would, of course, love it if some television producer read this and decided that the idea would make for a great series starring yours truly and drove a U-haul full of money up to my door. (Okay, that sounds nuts too)
That is not likely to happen, so you will have to learn to deal with my crude and amateurish ways of getting to the bottom of things.
Come on! It will be fun!

Has The Montauk Monster Been Spotted Again?
Written By: Ken HulseySource: WABC 7 New York City
I know it has been quite a while since I posted a good cryptozoology story, so when I ran across this one during my lunch break, I just had to write about it. The story also intrigued me because it ties in with two stories I reported on last October.
Many of you may remember back to last year, when two strange creatures washed ashore in the same week, one in New London, Connecticut and another in Sakhalin, which is in the eastern part of Russia. What was strange about these two mysterious creatures, was the fact that they both appeared to be some unknown form of mammal, that is to say that they were both covered in hair, with large fangs.True, the mysterious animals didn't look exactly alike, one seemed to have a longer face than the other, but they did wash ashore a week apart on two separate continents. A strange coincidence to say the least.
Well, now another strange looking harry creature has washed ashore on the American east coast, this time in Long Island, New York. Now what makes this strange....stranger, is the fact that this is the second time such a creature been found in that location. Indeed, unknown to me when I wrote the prior two stories, a similar carcass was discovered in Long Island last summer. At the time local residents named the mysterious animal, the "Montauk Monster".
After the first sighting, Nicky Papers, a local student, started Montauk-Monster.com to report on any other future sightings. On May 6th, Papers took the latest photograph of the creature after she was tipped by a couple who discovered the body while walking on the beach near Southold, N.Y.
Sceptics say the photos are nothing but the product of hoaxers with good photoshop skills.Other insist that they are some genetic experiment gone wrong. Who can say for sure.
It certainly is interesting that all of these reports have surfaced within the last year. Is there some new species out there that we are just now discovering?

Russian Soldiers Discover A Harry Monster On The Beach
Written By: Ken HulseySource: The National Post (Canada)
A few days ago I reported on a mysterious carcass that had washed up on the beach in Connecticut that was discovered by a family on a casual stroll. Today I have a tale of yet another mysterious rotting corpse on a beach, this time however the story comes from the Soviet Union.......oh, sorry, Russia.
It seems that some Russian soldiers discovered the body of a mysterious harry creature while on patrol along the Sakhalin shoreline, which is located in the most eastern part of Russia, some 5,000 miles away from Moscow and very near Japan. The mysterious creature, which has earned the name, "The Moscow Monster", most closely resembles a crocodile, with a long tail, but instead of scales the animal is covered in skin and hair.
So far the monster has baffled Russian scientists. According to reports experts have determined that the creature is not a fish, due to its skeletal structure and teeth. Also according to reports the Russians have not been able to either identify the anomaly or place it within the known order of anything at all.
Throughout history hundreds of mysterious corpses have washed up on shorelines around the world, most of which have never been identified by science. This just goes to prove that there are still several species in the oceans yet to be discovered.
I do, however, find it interesting that soon after we discover a mysterious sea creature on our shores, the Russians discover one on theirs. Are we about to enter into some kind "Monster Race" with our old adversaries. I think that we need to get in gear and discover Bigfoot before the Russians discover an Alma. Hey, we can't let them get one over on us!

A Mysterious Creature Washes Ashore In New London Connecticut
Written By: Ken HulseySource: NBC30.com
Bobbette Clapsadle and her family were taking their usual evening stroll on the beach , when they came upon the rotting corpse of a creature that they couldn't identify. Just like in just about every case when a giant squid or some other unidentified "sea-monster" washes ashore, there were no samples taken. Not the Clapsadle family would have wanted to cut off a portion of a dead thing they found on the beach, but the authorities weren't contacted about the find, so no concrete evidence was gathered to find out what exactly this thing was. The families daughter did have a camera with her and snapped the above photo, however the shot doesn't show the whole creature, or include any items that would indicate the size of the body.
Other people on the beach also examined the creature, but no one could seem to be able to identify exactly what it was. "We weren't sure at first. It was kind of covered in grass (and) was in the weed line. My son saw it first and was like,'Look at that!' My husband walked over and said, 'Oh my God,'" Clapsadle said.
When the family returned to scene a couple of days later the body was gone. Add this case to the endless stack of reports of mysterious creatures that have washed up on beaches all over the world, where no one will ever know exactly what it was.
