Join The Cast Of "Ghost Hunters" In An Investingation OF The Ripley's Museum

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Dustin Pari via Facebook / Ideal Event Management

Many of you may not know this, but my family watches both "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Hunters International" every Wednesday night. We literally plan our entire evening around watching the show, reruns included.

Every week we always discuss as a family, the events of the evenings program, and wonder what it would be like to either go 'ghost hunting' with the TAPS team, or on our own.

Now may be our chance.....well, sorta.

Three members of TAPS, and stars of both "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Hunters International", Dustin Pari, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango , will lead a special investigation of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum in St. Augustine, FL on October 17th, 2009.

The event will feature an 'meet-and-greet', lectures on ghost hunting techniques and five hour investigation similar to whats seen on the show.

The event is a bit pricey at $225 a head, but considering the people involved, and the fact that it is a eight hour event with class time and training, it seems fair enough.

Here is the schedule of events:

6:00pm- 7:00pm Meet and Greet with Dustin Pari, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango from the Sci-Fi Channels Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International show.
7:00pm- 7:30pm Lecture and Q&A Session with Dustin, Steve and Tango
7:30pm- 8:00pm Lecture on Ghost Hunting techniques and equipment by Steve, Tango and Dustin
8:00pm- 8:30pm Travel time to the Museum from hotel
8:30pm- 9:00pm History Overview of the Museum
9:00pm- 2:00am Break up into groups and begin investigation.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Now if I can only get my hands on the cash to take the family.......

Source: NBC / Universal

Summer Holidays Feature "Land of the Lost" Memorial Day Marathon and the July 4th Weekend "Twilight Zone" Marathon

And on July 7, SCI FI Becomes...Syfy

After kicking off with a Memorial Day "Land of the Lost" marathon, SCI FI blasts into Summer '09 with a wealth of original programming from the series premiere of "Warehouse 13" and new episodes of "Eureka" (on its new night Fridays at 9PM beginning July 10th) and "Ghost Hunters" to Saturday night movies showcasing stars such as Jason Gedrick, James Marsters and Peta Wilson.

Summer on SCI FI also includes the popular July 4th weekend "Twilight Zone" marathon and, on July 7, SCI FI becomes Syfy.

SUMMER SCRIPTED SERIES

"Warehouse 13" - Premieres Tuesday, July 7, with two-hour pilot from 9-11PM (ET/PT) - Two Secret Service agents find themselves abruptly transferred to a massive, top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse's caretaker Artie (Saul Rubinek) charges Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the Warehouse, as well as helping him to control the warehouse itself. CCH Pounder guest-stars as Artie's boss Mrs. Federic, along with Allison Scagliotti as Claudia Donovan, a young, hip, brilliant techno-wiz.

The 13-episode series (including the two-hour pilot) is produced for SCI FI by Universal Cable Productions. It is executive produced by Jack Kenny (The Book of Daniel) who also serves as showrunner. David Simkins (Dresden Files) is executive producer; Jace Alexander (Burn Notice, Rescue Me) is co-executive producer and director of the pilot; and Stephen Surjik (Monk, Burn Notice) is producer/director of the series.

"Eureka" -- Returns with 10 new episodes beginning Friday, July 10, at 9PM (ET/PT) Season 3.5 picks up where "Eureka" left off at the mid-season cliffhanger with Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) being removed from his job as Eureka's sheriff and Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) announcing that she is expecting her recently-deceased husband's baby.

Carter is also confronted by some challenging decisions on the home front where his daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson) is concerned and encounters a new love interest with the arrival of Dr. Tess Fontana (guest star Jaime Rae Newman) who will supervise the re-opening of Global Dynamics' infamous 'Section 5.'

"Eureka" was the most watched scripted series on SCI FI in 2008 delivering its best performance to-date. The first half of the 3rd season averaged 3 million viewers per week. Co-creator Jaime Paglia and Charlie Craig (The X Files, Brimstone) and Thania St. John are Executive Producers. "Eureka" is produced by Universal Cable Productions.

SUMMER REALITY SERIES

"Ghost Hunters International" - Returns Wednesday, July 8 at 9PM -- A spin-off of SCI FI's popular "Ghost Hunters" series, "Ghost Hunters International" features a squad of real-life "ghost-busters" - ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. This summer the team travels to Austria, Ireland, Italy, Chile, Argentina and the Czech Republic in pursuit of the truth behind bizarre supernatural claims. The first six episodes of season two will air this summer with additional episodes continuing in 2010.

"Ghost Hunters International" earned the best-ever first season for a reality series of the network, averaging a 1.7 HH rating and 2.3 million total viewers.

"Ghost Hunters" - Returns Wednesday, August 19, at 9PM (ET/PT) - Plumbers by day, Ghost Hunters by night, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson head up TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), a close-knit organization of volunteer paranormal researchers - ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. In their investigations all over the U.S. and Europe, these self-proclaimed skeptics have managed to expose some of the most frighteningly compelling evidence of paranormal phenomenon ever seen on television! Throughout its run, "Ghost Hunters" has featured speaking entities, mysteriously moving furniture, and ghostly visages and a healthy dose of squabbling within the investigating team. Being scared has never been so much fun!

Enjoying record-high ratings throughout its run since 2004, "Ghost Hunters" remains one of cable's hottest shows, with an average of more than 3 million viewers tuning in so far during season 5 (premiered March 11, 2009). Piligian and Thomas Thayer, along with Rob Katz and Alan David, serve as executive producers.

SUMMER MOVIES

"High Plains Invaders," starring James Marsters - In the early 20th century, a small western mining town is invaded by giant insectoid alien creatures whose only mission is to mine uranium to fuel their spaceship - but they'll kill anyone or anything that gets in their way. "Hellhounds," directed by Rick Schroeder - After his bride is poisoned at their wedding, a young Greek warrior risks a journey to Hades to rescue her from the God of the Underworld and bring her back to life. What he doesn't know is that the best friend who accompanies him is the man who killed her in a jealous rage.

Their inexperienced lieutenant has to lead them across the treacherous desert to a rendezvous point where an army helicopter will pick them up - but not all of them are going to make it.

SUMMER MARATHONS

If Your looking For Ghosts Go To The Aokigahara Forest In Japan

Written By: Ken Hulsey

If you were lucky enough to see the television show, "Destination Truth" a week ago then you probably know the story behind the Aokigahara Forest (Sea of Trees) and how it may very well be the most haunted place on Earth. If you are like me, you just can't get enough of shows like "Ghost Hunters", Monster Quest, and ...well... "Destination Truth." I, like you probably do, find myself thinking, "I could go to that place....piece of cake...no big deal." Give me any old graveyard, penitentiary, or mental hospital and I would be all over it. Now, when it comes to Aokigahara, well that's a different story all together. I got freaked out just watching it on TV. Honestly that place is creepy in ways I can't even explain. Well, let me try anyway.

To give a bit of information that may have missed if you didn't tune in to "Truth" when it aired. Aokigahara is famous for a place that many Japanese go to end their lives, and when I say end, I don't mean die of old age. I'm talking about suicide and hundreds of people a year go out into those woods and never return. The problem is so bad the the local Forestry Service has posted signs everywhere with slogans saying that "life is a precious gift" and "go seek help." Let me tell you, those kind of signs don't do much to brighten up the atmosphere in Aokigahara. According to sources on the net, these woods rank as the second highest place for suicide attempts in the world, and is only bested by San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

The forests of Aokigahara are littered with the remains of campsites abandoned by those who have found that life is no longer worth living. It seems that a common practice for those who wish to travel the after life, often spend several days camping in the woods in preparation for their final act. This has lead to the forest becoming a haven for scavengers, who are more than happy to retrieve the left over cash, credit cards, drivers licenses and other personal items that the departed have left behind. Again this doesn't add much to make Aokigahara any more cheery.

Of course the fact that just about everyone who enters the woods has some sort of paranormal event happen to them doesn't hurt the woods claim as one of the most haunted places on Earth either. It just goes to reason that with so much sadness and death present in Aokigahara that this would be a place where spirits either get trapped or their energy lives on for decades.

It is for these reasons that you would probably never find me walking around in the "Sea of Trees." Like I said before, you can send me to an old army hospital or crazy house and I would go. Heck, I might even think its fun. Aokigahara would be a real "gut-check", I mean you would have to have balls of stone to go there. I'm no coward, but that place would terrify me. You can count me out.....
