One Month Ahead of Batman #100, “The Joker War” Reunites Batman and Robin!

DC’s Batman comic makes a triumphant return to shelves today with the publication of Batman #92, but come September the Caped Crusader will need his original sidekick’s help! If Nightwing’s memories don’t return in time for “The Joker War,” will Harley Quinn step in and be Batman’s white knight?

“The Joker War” officially kicks off in Batman #95 in July, but when Batman #98 hits shelves on September 1, Harley Quinn steps in to become Batman’s savior! Batman is at his most vulnerable following a massive dose of an experimental new Joker toxin, so while the Dark Knight haunted by demons and visions it’s up to Harley Quinn to protect him while he recovers—because Punchline is on her way!

And then in Batman #99 on September 15, Nightwing returns to Gotham City in “The Joker War” part four! Things have changed, as Batman realizes he can’t fight this war alone. He’s going to need help. Before he faces down The Joker, he must call up his trusty partner Dick Grayson! But can Dick reclaim his lost memories in time to join the battle?

Batman #98 and #99, written by James Tynion IV with art by Jorge Jiménez and covers by David Finch (#98) and Jorge Jiménez (#99), plus card stock variant covers by Francesco Mattina and Jorge Jiménez, will hit shelves on September 1st and 15th.

Harley Quinn in Infinite Crisis: One Crazy Champion

From DC Comics

For the developers of Infinite Crisis, the online game set in the DC Comics Multiverse, only one thing is crazier than Harley Quinn… and that’s not putting her in the game. That’s why the team chose the former psychologist as one of their earliest characters to work on. Even before Superman.

Who’s laughing now, Kent?

The Infinite Crisis development team has a sweet job, really. They get to take the biggest names in DC Comics and bring them to life, building skill kits and animations that capture the essence of who they are. Batman is a serious and silent assassin, Doomsday a raging abomination, and Wonder Woman a selfless defender. And in this world of idyllic heroes and ruthless villains, Harley is crazier than Dex-Starr on catnip.

That’s why she was such a treat to work on for the Infinite Crisis art team—because she really is the one character who can do anything. Skipping through the game’s environments when the whole of existence is at stake? No problem. Playing with her dolls when no one is looking? Check. Dressing up in her favorite footie pajamas before smacking people around with her teddy bear? Hell yes!

But it’s not all fun and games; Harley has a serious job to do too. (Actually, it is a game and a fun one at that, but we’re digressing.) As the Joker’s frequent sidekick, she has a lot of experience as an enabler, helping the Clown Prince of Crime pull off his craziest plans. She’s actually a lot like Robin in that regard, minus the parental tragedy and grappling hook.

Well, in Infinite Crisis, Harley continues that pedigree as a controller—a supporting character who helps her teammates get the job done. Plus, she has a unique set of skills at her disposal with which to do it. She can heal her allies with laughter (it’s the best medicine, after all), give her enemies a few pies to the face, or smack them around with her giant hammer (we suggest adding your own crazy sound effects when you do it—“Thwa-funk!” is a personal favorite of ours). When used properly, these skills create great opportunities for Harley’s allies to secure kills or escape to safety in the game.

Here’s the best part. Maybe the folks at Infinite Crisis have been infected by some of Harley’s crazy, but Infinite Crisis is free to download and play right now! Plus, as you complete the tutorial and learn the ropes, you can unlock six DC champions to play—including Ms. Quinn herself. And as if that wasn’t enough, in honor of Harley Quinn Month, we’re giving away 25 Bombshell Harley Quinn costume codes over on Facebook every weekday until the end of the month. So grab one for yourself and get in the game. Mr. J is waiting…

Harley Quinn Comes to Film

From DC Comics

For a year where no DC Entertainment movies were actually released, 2014 was a great year for fans excited to see their favorite DC Comics super heroes brought to the big screen. We’ve already discussed Warner Bros.’ release of its upcoming DC Entertainment theatrical slate. Well, for a certain number of fans, that was actually the second most exciting announcement this year.

On December 2nd, much of the cast list for 2016’s Suicide Squad movie was released, and it certainly impressed. Will Smith as Deadshot! Tom Hardy as Rick Flag! Jared Leto as the Joker! (!!!) For a potentially darker movie where audiences will be cheering on a team of super-villains, it’s quite an A-Level roll call. However, we’d argue that the most significant cast member is one who isn’t yet a household name.

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Anyone who’s familiar with Robbie’s work knows that the casting makes perfect sense. However, it’s the fact that Harley Quinn is coming to film that really makes this announcement important. Since her introduction on Batman: The Animated Series, Harley Quinn has gone on to become one of DC’s most popular characters. She’s a favorite of cosplayers and collectors, and has been a staple of the popular Arkham and LEGO Batman video games and anchors her own bestselling comic series. However, despite the continued popularity of Batman as a franchise, Harley has never yet appeared in a live action film. (A variation did appear on the short-lived Birds of Prey TV series, and she was a fun Easter Egg last season on Arrow’s Suicide Squad episode, but neither gave fans a glimpse of her in action.)

Harley Quinn's Five Tips for Enjoying the Holidays

From DC Comics

The mercury is dropping, snow is starting to fall and the smell of gingerbread is in the air (at least, we HOPE that it’s gingerbread because it's getting really strong and we have no other explanation for it).

Yes, the holidays are upon us. Soon families will begin gathering together for memories, laughter and awkward, uncomfortable conversations around the dinner table when grandpa invites the 26-year-old massage therapist that he left grandma for to the festivities. Gifts will be opened, carols will be sung and children will playfully gather around the living room, sigh loudly when they discover they didn’t get the PS4 they wanted and storm off to their rooms to SnapChat with their friends. There will be moments of joy and merriment. There will be moments of quiet reflection. But in the end, we’ll remember the one truth that’s at the heart of the holiday season: No matter where you may be in life, the post-holiday traffic on the drive home will be horrendous.

Harley Quinn understands this, and she’s bringing the holiday spirit to comic shops worldwide this week with the just released HARLEY QUINN HOLIDAY SPECIAL #1. Written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti and drawn by Mauricet, Brandt Peters, Darwyn Cooke and Billy Tucci, it’s a painfully funny reminder of all that’s special about this time of year. But it’s not all laughs and mayhem. The Harley Quinn Holiday Special also contains all you need to know to ensure your holidays are heavy on the mirth, magic and merriment, and light on the migraines. Here are five tips for enjoying the holidays that we learned from Harley Quinn.

Ever since she broke the 4th wall (stop breaking things, Harley!) in HARLEY QUINN #0, Dr. Harleen Quinzel has done exactly what she wants. Whether she’s helping old geezers (“The Hunt for Red Octogenarians” in HARLEY QUINN #5), causing mayhem for Cos-Players (HARLEY QUINN INVADES SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL #1), getting stranded with the Joker on a desert island (“Crappily Ever After” in HARLEY QUINN: FUTURES END #1) or just stinking up the place (“Scratch & Snuff” in HARLEY QUINN ANNUAL #1), Harley’s a force to be reckoned with.

And now she’s holding February hostage. HARLEY QUINN will be February’s variant cover theme month – and no hero (or villain!) is safe!
