Krypton: What if Superman never existed?

Decades before Superman became the hero of Earth, his family was fighting for its survival. Krypton, a new show from Syfy that will act as a straight-up Superman prequel series, just got its first trailer on Tuesday, and it looks like long-time DC and Superman fans are in for a real treat with this one.

“The story of my family is one of triumph and sacrifice,” Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather, says in the new trailer. Seg-El will be portrayed by Cameron Cuffe (Florence Foster Jenkins) and looks to be in his mid-twenties by human standards in this series. Seg-El speaks about how his family previously “led a revolution against tyranny. And now it falls on my shoulders to save my world.”

When Adam Strange, portrayed by Shaun Sipos, shows up to warn Seg-El of an impending doom, Seg-El has to jump into action to save his world — and the universe at large.

“Someone from the future is coming to destroy Krypton because, where I’m from, your grandson becomes the greatest hero of the universe,” Adam tells Seg-El. In DC’s comics, Adam Strange similarly travels back in time to warn Superman’s grandfather of a plot to destroy Superman even before his birth. Adam Strange will be joined by Brainiac, a classic DC villain with, of course, ties to Superman. Brainiac will be portrayed by Blake Ritson.



What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, “Krypton” follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg finds himself in a difficult position. He must redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves while being challenged by familiar DC characters Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).

Syfy Acquires WYNONNA EARP from SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment

SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment announced today that Syfy has acquired the U.S. rights to Wynonna Earp, a live action television series based on the IDW Publishing comic created by Beau Smith. Emily Andras (Lost Girl, Killjoys) developed the series for television and will serve as Executive Producer and Showrunner.

With an initial order of 13 one-hour episodes, Wynonna Earp is a fast-paced, contemporary thriller that follows Wyatt Earp’s great granddaughter as she battles demons and other supernatural beings. Wynonna is a witty and wild modern day gunslinger, using her unique abilities and a dysfunctional posse of allies to bring the paranormal to justice. The series is scheduled to premiere in April 2016.

“Wynonna Earp is a unique contemporary western that will bring high octane, full-throttle, supernatural action to Syfy,” said Chris Regina, SVP, Programming, Syfy. “It is wildly imaginative and we are excited to work with Seven24 Films, IDW Entertainment and Emily on this truly original concept that will showcase fun, stylized visuals and pure escapism.”

Melanie Scrofano (Damien, Gangland Undercover) will star as Wynonna Earp. Tim Rozon (Being Human, Instant Star) will play legendary con artist Doc Holliday, and Shamier Anderson (Defiance, Constantine) plays the mysterious Agent Dolls.

“Together with SEVEN24 Films, IDW Entertainment, and a virtual dream cast, I’m confident we have something special on our hands: a female-led supernatural series with grand themes of redemption, honor, and the struggle to define good vs. evil. Not to mention, a kickass biker babe fighting demon outlaws,” said Emily Andras.

Wynonna Earp will be produced in Calgary by SEVEN24 Films, and distributed by IDW Entertainment. Production is slated to begin in August. SEVEN24’s Jordy Randall and Tom Cox will serve as Executive Producers.

IDW CEO & Publisher Ted Adams​, David Ozer, Peleton Entertainment’s Todd Berger, and Circle of Confusion’s Rick Jacobs packaged and facilitated financing for the series.

SyFy To Go Behind The Scenes Of B Movie Effects In MONSTER MAN

Syfy is expanding its slate of original reality programming by greenlighting Monster Man, a docuseries about a quirky Hollywood creature-making family, it was announced today by Mark Stern, President of Original Content, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions.

Six one-hour episodes have been ordered from Gurney Productions, the team behind Syfy’s exciting new series Haunted Collector.

Monster Man goes behind the scenes of one of Hollywood’s most respected monster prop building workshops. For more than thirty years, when studios want a bizarre creature or out-of-this world alien, they’ve turned to Cleve Hall and his very unique family business. Only the horrifying monsters they build match the craziness of this highly dysfunctional, extremely talented family.

“We are entering the creative world of a very eccentric, artistic family,” said Mark Stern. “Cleve and his team will give our viewers a rare behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring monster props, puppets and costume pieces to life. But they’re also a family business, so the unusual dynamic between them is half the fun.”

Cleve Hall has been in the prop design game since he was a teenager. Monsters are his specialty, which fits the personality of a man who dresses in all black and drives a hearse. Hall has created masterpieces for countless B-movies and big budget flicks for Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks, Warner Bros and Disney, including favorites Ed Wood and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Hall has also lent his talent to numerous television programs including Yo Gabba Gabba, for which he received an Emmy nomination. Additionally, he has worked with rock bands including KISS, creating Gene Simmons’ Demon Armor, as well as Insane Clown Posse, Alice Cooper, Tenacious D and DEVO.

Monster Man follows Cleve Hall, his daughters Constance and Elora Hall, his ex-wife Sonja Maddox-Hall, best friends Roy Knyrim and Johnny Saiko, as well as office manager Cindy Miller. Executive Producers are Scott Gurney and Deirdre Gurney for Gurney Productions.

Production on Monster Man is slated to begin shooting in Los Angeles in July 2011 with an anticipated January 2012 debut.

SyFy To Once Again Air The Annual TWILIGHT ZONE Marathon July 4th

Syfy will celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with three marathons (Warehouse 13, Eureka and The Twilight Zone) along with the premiere of the horror movie The Hills Have Eyes.

The fireworks begin on Friday, July 1, by giving fans of Syfy’s two most popular series a chance to re-live last year’s exciting seasons. The Warehouse 13 season two marathon airs 8AM-8PM (ET/PT), while the Eureka season 4.0 marathon runs 11PM-5AM.

Both series will return on Monday, July 11, with Eureka season 4.5 premiering at 8PM and Warehouse 13 season three at 9PM, followed by the debut of Alphas at 10PM, forming Syfy’s new Monday night scripted programming block -- “The Most Powerful Night of the Week.”

On Saturday, July 3, The Hills Have Eyes at 9PM will be the centerpiece of daylong frightful movies including The Cave, Children of the Corn and The Devil’s Advocate.

The holiday festivities conclude with the 40-hour The Twilight Zone marathon, running Sunday, July 3 from 9AM-5AM and Monday, July 4, from 8AM-4AM, which takes viewers into a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity

SyFy Announces Summer Programing

Syfy will heat up Summer 2011 by launching four scripted series in July -- the most ever in a single month -- with newcomer Alphas joining powerhouses Warehouse 13, Eureka and Haven.

Along with expanding its popular scripted franchise, Syfy is building on successful reality programming such as Ghost Hunters, Face Off and Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files by introducing two new series. Haunted Collector will be paired with the second season return of Hollywood Treasure on June 1, while Legend Quest debuts in July following the third season premiere of Ghost Hunters International.

Hot weather Saturday Original Movies will include Red Faction: Origins -- based on the popular Red Faction video game franchise -- Swamp Shark and Ice Road Terror.

Syfy Summer 2011 kicks off with a Star Trek movie marathon on Memorial Day weekend and will also include a July 4th Twilight Zone marathon.

HAUNTED COLLECTOR **NEW ORIGINAL REALITY SERIES**

In the new Syfy reality series Haunted Collector, a family of paranormal investigators hunt down haunted items bedeviling their owners. For 30 years John Zaffis, eminent paranormal researcher and demonologist, has been consulted on countless hauntings for clients all over the country, desperate to return their lives to normalcy. Author of the critically acclaimed book “Shadows of the Dark,” Zaffis has amassed thousands of possessed objects that reside in the bizarre museum which he built next to his house in Connecticut. Along with his son Chris, daughter Amy, and paranormal investigators Beth Ezzo and Brian Cano, Zaffis tracks down haunted items such as paintings, guns, jewelry and antiques. HOLLYWOOD TREASURE MID-SEASON RETURN

Wednesday, June 1, at 10PM (ET/PT) -- All new episodes of Hollywood Treasure, which premiered its first season in October, introduced Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History and the world’s largest auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture collectibles. In these new episodes, Joe tracks down one-of-a-kind pieces from Forbidden Planet and Lost in Space. From King Arthur’s famous sword to the Lost Ark of the Covenant, all of the elusive items are believed to hold hidden powers and mystical significance for ancient and modern cultures. Each of the six episodes will include Indiana Jones-type adventure and Da Vinci Code-style puzzle solving as the secreted truths and alternative theories of these mythical relics are explored. Cowie and his team leave no stone unturned as they hack through dense jungles, squeeze through tiny caves and trek through forbidding deserts to find their next clue. Their expeditions will reveal secrets that have been guarded for centuries and are still being protected today. EUREKA SEASON 4.5

Monday, July 11 @ 8pm (ET/PT) -- In the season 4.5 return of Eureka, as the timeline changes from their trip to 1947 continue to surprise Carter, Allison, Henry, Jo and Fargo, an accident of astronomical proportions launches Eureka's most ambitious project yet. The entire town rallies to go where no man has gone before, pitting scientist against scientist to be one of the chosen few. But our heroes' new relationships are tested as secrets begin to surface. WAREHOUSE 13 SEASON 3

Monday, July 11 @ 9pm (ET/PT) -- Warehouse 13, Syfy’s most successful series ever, returns for a third season with a key question looming from the gripping season two finale: has Myka (Joanne Kelly) left the Warehouse for good? Joining the Warehouse team is Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore, Smallville), an ATF agent with an innate ability to detect when someone's lying.

Warehouse 13 follows a team of government agents who work at a massive, top-secret storage facility in South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and preternatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse’s caretaker Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek) charges Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock), Myka Bering (Kelly) and young apprentice Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache. HAVEN SEASON 2

Friday, July 15 @ 10pm (ET/PT) -- Last season, when FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) arrived in the town of Haven, Maine on a routine case, her knack for unraveling mysteries proved an asset when she discovered that the seemingly sleepy town was, in fact, a longtime refuge for people with supernatural afflictions. Now, in Season Two, Audrey must not only stay on top of Haven's many afflictions –which continue to be revealed in every episode – but also solve her most challenging case yet: the secret of her own lost past and its ties to Haven.

With the help of Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant), a handsome local cop with his own trouble, and Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) a local smuggler and reluctant aide in solving Haven's troubles, Audrey digs deeper into uncovering her identity. Guest stars Jason Priestley (who will also direct an episode) and Vinessa Antoine join the cast for season two, which is currently in production on 13 episodes in Nova Scotia. Haven, from leading independent producer Entertainment One (eOne) is co-commissioned by Shaw Media in Canada and globally via Universal Networks International (UNI).

GHOST HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL SEASON 3

Wednesday, July 13 @ 9pm (ET/PT) -- Ghost Hunters International -- The GHI team kicks off the third season traveling deep into the rainforest of Trinidad, where it’s reported that the spirit of Count Lopinot, a cruel slave master, rises from the grave of his cocoa plantation. Ghost Hunters International features a squad of paranormal investigators who use their principles of scientific techniques to explore some of the most legendary haunted spots around the world. Each week the team travels to the far corners of the globe, searching for answers to bizarre supernatural mysteries. The team of investigators is led by Barry FitzGerald and Kris Williams and also stars Joe Chin, Susan Slaughter, Paul Bradford and Scott Tepperman. Red Faction: Origins -- Saturday, June 4, at 9PM (ET/PT) -- Robert Patrick (Terminator 2), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe) and Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica) star in Red Faction: Origins, based on the hugely successful Red Faction video game franchise. Twenty-five years have passed since Alec Mason (Patrick) led the Martian Colonies to freedom and 12 years since vengeful enemies killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter Lyra (Tamzin Merchant), and left a broken hero in their wake. Jake Mason (Smith), Alec’s only son and an officer in the Red Faction Militia, has his world turned inside out when he discovers that now, 12 years after her kidnapping, his sister is still alive. As a powerful new enemy swarms across the planet, Jake goes out to find her, only to learn that his lost sister is one of them -- a cold-blooded soldier sworn to destroy the Red Faction. Swamp Shark – Saturday, June 25, at 9PM (ET/PT) -- Kristy Swanson, D.B. Sweeney and Robert Davi star in the story of mutant sharks terrorizing the Louisiana bayous. A production of Active Entertainment.

Did any of you believe for one second that the Bigfoot movie craze was coming to a halt? Really?

Well I've got great news. There is yet another Yeti movie ready to come charging out of the woods entitled "Snow Beast" which is slated to debut on the SyFy Channel in the near future.

The film stars John Schneider (Them Dukes, them Dukes .... okay Dukes of Hazzard), Danielle Chuchran, Paul D. Hunt, Kari Hawker and Jason London who literally running for their lives from a really pissed off Wampa (watch the trailer .... the monster is the Wampa from Empire Strikes Back) who is on one hell of a blood-thirsty bender.

When I say pissed off ..... I mean PISSED OFF. This Wookie (okay another Star Wars reference ... I'm on a role) is pulling snow bunnies out of cars and throwing guys against trees. Kinda makes the Fouke Monster from "Boggy Creek" look like a pansy.

According to the folks over at SunWorld Pictures what they were aiming for in "Snow Beast" was something a little more retro. According to Marie Wilcox, "Snow Beast is reminiscent of the old-school 'creature features.' Very little CGI effects are contained in the film. Cast members performed their own stunts making for a good time on set as we threw people through the air, dragged them through snow, launched them off snow mobiles, and dropped them into snow caves."

And who doesn't want to see John Schneider get launched right?

I'm at least glad to here that the production went away from CGI. By now you know how I think that medium is being abused ..... I'm looking at you George Lucas ....

Do I think that the Bigfoot movie craze will ever end? Well, if you asked me a year ago I would have said yes, but now .... no way. As long as there are giant unknown apes running around in our woodland areas there will be movie makers willing to make horror movies about them attacking Indians, teenage girls, witches, and TV stars from the 70s.

"Snow Beast" will air on the SyFy Channel this year with a DVD, digital download, and video on demand release coming afterword.

Allison Scagliotti Joins The Cast Of DESTINATION TRUTH For First Ever Live Investigation

Actress Allison Scagliotti will join the team on Destination Truth: Live from Ireland – The Search for the Banshee Ghost, a four-hour special episode that will take Josh Gates and team to Ireland for their very first live investigation. Best known to Syfy fans as Claudia on the immensely popular series Warehouse 13, Scagliotti is also no stranger to live television or overnight adventure: she fearlessly served as co-host of last year’s Ghost Hunters Halloween Live event.

This special episode of Destination Truth will air from 7-11pm (ET/PT) on Thursday, March 17. In Destination Truth: Live from Ireland – The Search for the Banshee Ghost, Gates and his team will brave the crumbling ruins of Duckett’s Grove Castle in County Carlow, Ireland, in search of the truth behind the legend of the banshee. Today, many County Carlow locals claim to have witnessed hearing the banshee’s unmistakable wail and seeing glimpses of an ethereal woman stalking the grounds of the 200 year-old historic ruins of Duckett’s Grove Castle. Armed with equipment, expertise and, as always, humor, Josh and team will attempt to solve the mystery behind this age-old legend.

SyFy Begins Production On BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD & CHROME

Production has begun in Vancouver on Syfy’s highly anticipated 2-hour pilot, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, the all-new chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga. Universal Cable Productions will produce the event with Syfy utilizing cutting edge CGI and virtual technology.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly find himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

Joining Pasqualino and Cotton in the cast is Lili Bordan, who will play Dr. Beka Kelly, a Ph.D. who worked for Graystone Industries that created the Cylon robots. Currently assigned to a secret military mission, Beka and Adama quickly establish a rapport.

From the award-winning producers of Battlestar Galactica, this new action-packed chapter of the BSG canon was written by Michael Taylor form a story by David Eick, Taylor and Bradley Thompson & David Weddle and directed by Jonas Pate. Now that mega pythons and gatoroids have been tamed, the survival of the planet is threatened by a murderous giant sculpture and rampaging escaped aliens in the February Syfy Saturday Original Movies.

In Iron Invader, premiering Saturday, February 12, at 9PM (ET/PT), a meteorite crawling with space bacteria crash lands in a junkyard. The unusual combination of alien bugs and Earth garbage brings a huge metalwork to life. The ungrateful Iron Invader then goes on a killing spree. The movie stars Kavan Smith (Eureka, Red: Werewolf Hunter). Nicole de Boer (Dead Zone, Stargate: Atlantis) and Donnelly Rhodes (Battlestar Galactica, Tron: Legacy). Iron Invader is a production of Cinetel.

Directed by Jason Connery -- Sean Connery’s son -- Area 51 premieres Saturday, February 26, at 9PM (ET/PT). In the movie, the Air Force decides to allow a few reporters into the most secretive base on the planet, Area 51, but the visit turns into violent mayhem when one of the captive aliens leads an escape. In what promises to be the television movie event of 2011, 1980s singing sensations Debbie Gibson and Tiffany get down and dirty in their long-awaited pop princess smackdown when they co-star in the ripped-from-the-headlines Syfy Saturday Original Movie, Mega Python Vs Gatoroid, which will premiere Saturday, January 29, at 9PM (ET/PT).

A production of The Asylum, Mega Python Vs Gatoroid takes an up-close-and-personal look at the crisis in the Florida Everglades where invasive Burmese pythons are threatening the indigenous alligator population. Gibson portrays a fanatical animal rights advocate who spends her evenings “liberating” illegally imported exotic snakes from pet stores and setting them free in the Everglades, where the pythons grow and thrive.

Tiffany plays an over-zealous park ranger worried about the growing ecological damage. To save her beloved alligators, she’s willing to employ dubious methods, overdosing them with steroids so they grow mega, setting off a war between the species – and putting her on a collision course with Gibson.

Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary) is director of Mega Python Vs Gatoroid – the first time a woman has directed a Syfy Saturday Original Movie. The writer is Naomi Selfman (Evil Eyes).

In their most recent Syfy roles, Tiffany starred in Mega Piranha, while Gibson starred in Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus.

DESTINATION TRUTH Goes "Live" On St. Patrick’s Day

On Thursday, March 17, 2011, Syfy’s hit adventure reality series Destination Truth will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the show’s first-ever LIVE investigation! Host Josh Gates will take viewers to Ireland for the Season 4.5 premiere, where he and his team will brave the crumbling ruins of Duckett’s Grove Castle in search of the truth behind the legend of the banshee.

According to Irish legend, the banshee is a sign of impending death; a female ancestral spirit who wails around a house the night before someone inside is to meet their demise. Today, many County Carlow locals claim to have witnessed hearing the banshee’s unmistakable wail and seeing glimpses of an ethereal woman stalking the grounds of the 200 year-old historic ruins of Duckett’s Grove Castle. Armed with equipment, expertise and, as always, humor, Josh and team will attempt to solve the mystery behind this age-old legend.

Josh’s return to Ireland marks the one-year anniversary of the series’ most-watched episode (featuring a hunt for the leprechaun that aired on St. Patrick’s Day 2010).

Other adventures this season include tackling claims of spirits in Namibia, a sea monster in Cyprus and mysterious creatures in Panama and Argentina. Then, in another Destination Truth first, the team will trek to Antarctica, where strange phenomena occurring around abandoned research stations has stumped scientists. Now, the Destination Truth crew will brave the elements to conduct the world’s first paranormal investigation on the frozen continent, giving viewers a rare and unique glimpse at this rarely visited landscape…as well as, perhaps, a look into its past.

SyFy To Go Werewolf Crazy In October

Syfy will provide a howling good time in October with two wolfish Saturday Original Movies featuring a family of werewolf hunters and an ancient vengeful creature.

In Monsterwolf, premiering Saturday, October 9, at 9PM (ET/PT), an oil company defies a court injunction against drilling on tribal land. Their blasting releases the Kachinawaya, a Native American animal spirit meant to protect Indian lands from invaders. Monsterwolf stars Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager) and Jason London (Wildfire). A production of Active Entertainment.

Felicia Day, star of The Guild and Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog, who also played “Vi” in the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will portray a descendant of Little Red Riding Hood in Red: Werewolf Hunter, debuting Saturday, October 30, at 9PM (ET/PT).

Red (Day) brings her fiancé home, where he meets the family and learns about their business -- hunting werewolves. He’s skeptical until bitten by a werewolf. When her family insists he must be killed, Red tries saving him. Red: Werewolf Hunter also stars Kavan Smith (Stargate Atlantis) and Stephen McHattie (Watchmen). The Return Of SyFy's CAPRICA Moved Up To October

The highly anticipated return of Syfy’s critically-acclaimed series Caprica will come even sooner than anticipated. The second half of season one will now premiere on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 10:00PM ET/PT, the channel announced today. Fans will no longer have to wait until January to watch the series exciting kick-off, as the citizens of Caprica deal with the chaotic aftermath of the mid-season finale’s harrowing events.

The second half of season one will transport us from stunningly vivid, twisted Virtual realities to the fascinating outer worlds of the 12 Colonies. Along the way, revolutionary tensions rise, family power shifts and our characters grapple with the physical and emotional consequences of their questionable decisions. As the season races towards its stunning conclusion, each episode lays the groundwork for the inevitable (and brutal) clash between the new Cylon race and its human creators.

“Though we initially announced the January return of Caprica, we still had hopes of finding a way to get the series back on the air sooner,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. “We’ve been able to successfully re-work our schedule, and are thrilled to bring the show back during what is traditionally Syfy’s most-watched time of the year. The outcome should also please fans who expressed their wishes for a shorter mid-season hiatus.”

The 6th annual Fantastic Fest will honor Roger and Julie Corman with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Premiere of Sharktopus on Friday, September 24, 2010 at The Paramount Theatre in Austin, TX. The film will play as the second part of a double feature with the U.S. premiere of Machete Maidens Unleashed!, a documentary about Philippine exploitation films from the 70's and 80's directed by Mark Hartley (Not Quite Hollywood), which features Roger Corman prominently. The Lifetime Achievement award ceremony will take place between the two shows, each of which will include classic Corman trailers and surprises.


In Sharktopus, Eric Roberts (The Expendables/The Dark Knight) plays a research scientist who, with his talented daughter (Sara Malakul Lane/Belly of the Beast), develops a secret military weapon -- a hybrid shark/octopus that can be controlled by electrical implants. But when the controls break down, the monster goes on a killing rampage at the resort beaches of Mexico.

Roberts received Golden Globe nominations for his starring roles in King of the Gypsies (1978) and Star 80 (1983). He was nominated for the 1985 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Runaway Train. In 1987, he won the Theatre World Award for his Broadway debut performance in Burn This.

In The Dark Knight, Roberts portrayed Sal Maroni, a Gotham City Mafia boss who hires The Joker (Heath Ledger) to kill Batman (Christian Bale). His other memorable roles include The Expendables, Raggedy Man, The Pope of Greenwich Village, Nobody’s Fool, Final Analysis and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

Billy Ray Cyrus Goes A Huntin For UFO's?

Music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus signs with Syfy and NBC’s Peacock Productions for development on a weekly reality series, UFO: Unbelievably Freakin’ Obvious, in which Cyrus and his 21-year-old son, Trace, investigate the conspiracy theories that abound around unexplained activity and paranormal phenomena. The project pairs the skeptical Cyrus with his conspiracy-theorist son, and together the two amateur sleuths journey to uncover hidden secrets and obtain untold firsthand accounts.

“Our audience craves authentic, compelling and informative storytelling that pushes the boundaries of our normal world,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. “Allegations of cover-up and conspiracy around unexplained phenomena has inspired heated debate for decades, and it will be interesting to see what truth Billy Ray and Trace may discover.”

Each episode will feature the father and son on cross-country trips that will usually find them traversing America’s back roads on their quest for the truth. Trace’s best friend, dubbed “Silent Franky,” will feed the father and son with important data from his computer workstation set up in his parent’s basement. Cyrus and Trace are going to need all the help they can get as they attempt to crack the government code surrounding a wide range of potential cover-ups, from political controversies to the existence of alleged creatures to eerie occurrences that have long been in question. The series will dig deep into the venerable mysteries of paranormal existence and try to uncover the facts – and perhaps finding the truth to be more obvious than one thinks.

Billy Ray Cyrus is a multi-platinum recording artist and has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. He has also established himself as a television and film actor. Currently, Cyrus stars as Robby Ray Stewart, the father of his daughter Miley's fictional character in the Disney Channel hit series "Hannah Montana." He continued his role in "Hannah Montana: The Movie." Syfy is re-teaming with writer/director Nick Willing to present Neverland, his original prequel to author J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan, it was announced today by Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. Production is set to begin on the 4-hour movie event next week in Genoa, Italy and Dublin, Ireland with a cast including Rhys Ifans (Pirate Radio, Notting Hill) as James Hook, Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) as Captain Elizabeth Bonny, Oscar nominee Bob Hoskins as Smee (who previously played the character in Steven Spielberg’s feature Hook), Raoul Trujillo (Tin Man) and Charlie Rowe (Pirate Radio) as Peter Pan. It is slated to air in 2011.

Neverland will be produced by Dublin-based Parallel Films on behalf of MNG Films in association with Syfy and Sky Movies HD and will be distributed by RHI Entertainment.

Sweeping in time from the turbulent seas of the pirates of the Caribbean to the back alleys of Dickensian London to a world of pure imagination, Neverland is the inspired origin story of one of the most cherished characters of all time… Peter Pan.

Raised on the streets of turn-of-the century London, orphaned Peter (Rowe) and his pals survive by their fearless wits as cunning young pickpockets. Now, they’ve been rounded up by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Ifans) to snatch a priceless—some believe, magical—treasure which transports them to another world. Neverland is a realm of white jungles and legendary mysteries of eternal youth, where unknown friends and enemies snatched from time welcome the new travelers with both excitement and trepidation. These groups include a band of 18th century pirates led by the power-mad Elizabeth Bonny (Friel), and the Native American Kaw tribe led by a Holy Man (Trujillo), which has protected the secret of the tree spirits from Bonny and her gang for ages—and that has meant war. But as the fight to save this strange and beautiful world becomes vital, Hook, Peter, and the ragamuffin lost boys consider that growing old somewhere in time could be less important than growing up—right here in their new home called Neverland.

SyFy Celebrates The End Of Summer With STEPHEN KING And DESTINATION TRUTH

Syfy will celebrate the unofficial end of summer with a Labor Day weekend programming festival highlighted by a two-day Stephen King movie marathon, concluding on the holiday with seven episodes of Destination Truth from 8:30AM-2:30PM (ET/PT).

The Friday Stephen King movies include The Langoliers (3-7PM) and The Tommy Knockers (7-11PM), while on Saturday, Syfy will present The Stand (3-9PM) along with Desperation at 11PM.

On Thursday, September 9, at 9PM (ET/PT), Destination Truth returns for season four -- as anchor of the new Thursday night reality block -- with host Josh Gates taking viewers around the globe in eight all-new episodes, traveling to the farthest corners of the earth in search of answers behind some of the world’s most intriguing unanswered mysteries. The crew’s itinerary will include investigations in Madagascar, Tanzania, Guam, Kenya and Cambodia. The team will also conduct the first underwater paranormal investigation when they travel to a remote Micronesian island to search for the spirits dwelling in a sunken fleet. The season kicks off with a trip to Pompeii, where Josh and crew conduct the very first overnight paranormal investigation in the famous ancient city.

Max Martini, Betsy Russell And Benito Martinez Fight Killer Plants In SyFy's MANDRAKE

Syfy will kick off September Saturday Original Movies with Mandrake on September 11, at 9PM (ET/PT), starring Max Martini (The Unit), Betsy Russell (Saw VI) and Benito Martinez (The Shield).

In the movie, researchers and fortune hunters in search of a mystical 16th century Spanish dagger find themselves trapped in a jungle that is a single living being – the Mandrake – serving as protector of the dagger. The movie is a production of Cinetel.

And don’t forget! Roger Corman’s Sharktopus, starring Eric Roberts, premieres Saturday, September 25, at 9PM (ET/PT).

FACT OR FAKED: PARANORMAL FILES Scores Big For SyFy - New Episodes Ordered

The first season of Syfy original series Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files (Thursdays 10-11 PM ET/PT) averaged 561,000 in Adults 18-49, 587,000 in Adults 25-54 and 1,037,000 Total Viewers, the best performance for a Thursday original series since the first season of Who Wants to be Superhero? premiered in 2006. Compared to the same time period in the second quarter of 2010, the ratings increased by an average of 65% in Adults 18-49, 59% in Adults 25-54s and 59% in Total Viewers.

Syfy ordered six additional new episodes of the reality hit, which will begin airing on Thursday, November 4th at 9/8c PM. Filming will commence this Friday, August 27th.

Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files earned 1.1 million page views at Syfy.com, 184,000 unique visits and 733,000 video streams during its first season. This is Syfy's best first season ever for any reality series in video streams and best since Who Wants To Be A Superhero? in 2006 in page views and unique visits.
