"Slumdog Millionaire" actress, Freida Pinto, is set to play Phaedra, an oracle priestess, in Relativity Media's upcoming fantasy film, "War of the Gods."
The film follows the story of a Spartan general who leads his men in a battle alongside the Greek gods against the Titans to save Earth.
"War of Gods" will be produced by Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton and Ryan Kavanaugh, part of the creative team behind "300". Relativity's Tucker Tooley and Craig Flores will also serve as executive producers.
Relativity has had "War of the Gods" on the shelf for two years now, ever since they bought the script, written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. Recently, screenwriter Jason Keller was brought in to rework the story, and now the production company feels that they are ready to proceed.
With "Clash of the Titans" about to be released, and "Conan" in the works, it seems that Relativity has chosen just the right time to go forward with "War of the Gods", possibly hoping to play off the popularity of the prior two films.
Ah, makes ya think back to the days when the classic films of Ray Harryhausen were in the theaters.
Wonder when somebody will start making Sinbad movies?
