Some very cool Martin Laing production artwork for the upcoming movie, "Terminator Salvation" has popped up over at the Quiet Earth website. These renderings depict some of the war machines that Skynet has developed to try to make us humans go extinct.
Now, I don't think that I have to go into the premise of "Terminator Salvation" too much. I'm sure that you all remember the scenes in the original "Terminator". Giant tanks rolling over piles of human skulls, flying machines shooting at guys in old car with a gun on top. The whole, man versus machine bit. I knew you would remember.
Like I said before, in the original "Terminator" we saw giant tanks rolling over people. Here we seem to have a machine that is really designed to "stomp" out humanity. This giant robot looks like it could go head-to-head with Godzilla. Very cool.
Okay, here is a neat twist. Killer motorcycles. You gotta love the red "eyes" on these babies!
Here, undoubtedly, is one of the earlier "Terminator" designs. You know, the kind that they had before they started making them look like the governor of California.
"Terminator Salvation" is set for release on May 22, 2009. The film is being directed by McG, and stars Christian Bale as John Connor, Sam Worthington as the cyborg Marcus Wright, Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor, and Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, while Moon Bloodgood, Common, Helena Bonham Carter and Roland Kickinger are among the supporting cast.
The film, set in 2018, focuses on the original war between humanity and the Terminator computer network Skynet. It abandons the formula of the series, which had involved Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Model 101 Terminator time-traveling to the present to protect or kill someone of future importance.
Here is the official synopsis:
Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor (Christian Bale), the man fated to be the leader of the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators, and the future he was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they find out a terrible secret that may lead to the possible annihilation of mankind.
So far everything is pointing to this one being a pretty damn cool movie!
Now, here is something that we have seen before. These "bad ass" birds were seen in flash-backs in both of the first two films. I always though this was a cool aircraft design.
