A fan-generated effort is now underway to get Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to release the 1989 feature, Godzilla vs. Biollante on DVD.
Godzilla vs. Biollante was the follow-up movie to 1984's Return of Godzilla (Godzilla 1985) in which Godzilla is released from the crater of Mt. Mihara on Oshima Island.
It is available on Regions 2 and 3, but not here in the United States (Region 1).
The idea is to saturate (as much as possible) the suits at Disney (who bought out Miramax and their film library) with cards and letters to get them to release Godzilla vs. Biollante on DVD. The movie was released on VHS video tape back in the 1990s, but it has not been released on DVD here. It is about like trying to listen to your favorite rock album on 8-track tape today.
So send your cards and letters to:
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521
Please be polite and business-like when writing. You will catch more flies by using honey instead of vinegar!
This movie is by far Godzilla's greatest entry in his entire Franchise. Godzilla's roar was deep an awesome. The suit looked very real.
ReplyDeleteThey left a lot of there camp out of this film. Biollante was VERY creative and probally the most realistic monster that godzilla has had to battle.
The atmosphere was very dark, powerful, the music score was awesome.
It was an will always be Godzilla's best film next to the 1954 original.
I have seen this Godzilla film before on VHS. This is one of the best Godzilla films I've ever seen. It most definettly should be rereleased on DVD here in the United States.
ReplyDeleteTo me it doesn't make sense that the movies AFTER this have been released and not this one. Anyone that buys and watches the newer movies in the Hensei Series and hadn't seen Godzilla vs. Biollante would be missing part of the storyline of the series.
I know that some executive type people would skip over this movie in fear of it not selling well because it's a Godzilla movie that doesn't pit him againist one of his more well known adversaries but trust me, their are plenty of people that are waiting to get their hands on this movie here in the United States.
I wish they would do a region 1 DVD release of Godzilla vs. Biollante, The Return of Godzilla (Godzilla 1985), and Godzilla vs. Megalon. If I could get those three movies, my collection would be complete.
