When crime boss Dolph Rossi puts a hit out on a man named Moran, Batman and Commissioner Gordon provide him protection. This proves to be no easy task as the top hit man Killer Krag is the man hired to kill Moran. Watching Moran at a horse race, they fail to prevent his assassination when Krag disguises himself as a jockey at the horse track. They also fail in stopping Krag from escaping to the island nation of Santa Cruz. The island is operated by the dictator known as Domingo Valdez, who hates the United States and often hides out criminals on his island. Batman decides that he's going to go out and bring Krag back to America illegally if he has too. However, things get complicated when Moran's widow puts out a bounty on Krag's head. Not only does this attract the attention of some ex-CIA agents but also Kirk Lingstrom, who could use the $100,000 reward for his scientific research.

As Batman, and these CIA agents find their own ways to the island, Langstrom uses his formula to become the Man-Bat once more. As Batman deals with the dangers getting into the island including sharks and superstitious natives. Man-Bat uses his grotesque appearance to convince the islanders that he's a bat-god and orders them to deal with the CIA agents. When the Man-Bat tries to fly to Valdez's castle, he's attacked by vampire bats and retreats from the cave he was traveling through and runs into the Batman.

Cindy Moon Swings Solo in Silk #1

The newest heroine of the Marvel Universe patrols New York City in these preview pages by Stacey Lee!

From Marvel Comics

This February, straight from the pages of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and Spider-Verse comes a brand new ongoing series starring the newest heroine of the Marvel Universe. Marvel is proud to present SILK #1, kicking off a new series by writer Robbie Thompson and artist Stacey Lee!

Cindy Moon exploded out of her bunker and into the Marvel Universe in the pages of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and she never looked back. Bit by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers on that fateful day, she’s spent her years locked away in a bunker, safe from the threat of Morlun and the Inheritors. Since then, she’s saved Peter Parker’s life (more than once), fought alongside Spider-Woman, braved the Spider-Verse and more!

“Cindy fascinates me,” says series writer Robbie Thompson, in an interview with Marvel.com. “She gave up 10 years of her life and the world moved on without her. What does that do to a person?”

Now, Cindy is back in New York City, patrolling it’s rooftops as SILK! And she’s going to make up for lost time. Searching for her past, defining her own future, and webbing wrong-doers along the way. Now is your chance to hop on board one of the slickest new launches of 2015 as SILK #1 swings in to comic shops this February!

Following their mission to Iskalon in the previous issue, Lando Calrissian, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 return to Haven Base on Arbra and report the destruction on Iskalon, as well as their failure to locate Tay Vanis. The presiding Rebel General thanks the team for trying their best, but relates that he has new information on the search. Although both Yom Argo and Tay Vanis had recovered information on the Empire's new secret weapon, another rebel had apparently recovered the same information. However, the information suggests that this rebel is none other than Han Solo. Leia steps up to tell the General that it couldn't possibly have been Solo, since he had been frozen in carbonite well before Tay Vanis' disappearance. However, the General claims that the Empire, the people who had arranged Solo's imprisonment, are the ones who had let slip the information. The General proposes that the group split up into two teams: one to track Han Solo and the mysterious story, and another to follow new information about Tay Vanis. Lando, Chewbacca, and the two droids decide to follow the trail for Solo, while Luke and Leia are sent to Kabray Station to follow a lead about Vanis. In order to infiltrate the diplomatic summit there, the Hoojib Plif is sent with them, to pose as the diplomat for the planet Arbra, with Luke and Leia as his aides. As Lando and his team decide not to use the Millennium Falcon for their mission, Luke and Leia use the Falcon to dock with Kabray Station and enter the diplomatic meeting along with Plif and a group of Hoojibs.

'Star Wars’ Spinoff To Have Both Boba Fett And Han Solo?

From The Inquisitr

As of this writing, most fans aren’t even thinking about the Star Wars spinoff films we’ll be getting in the coming years. The film that’s likely on everyone’s minds is J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But if Disney plans to release the films yearly as originally scheduled, then there’s bound to be significant overlap in production schedules.

As such, we’ve been getting a lot of news regarding the upcoming spinoffs — one rumored as a Boba Fett movie and the other as a Han Solo movie. The latest rumor comes from Latino Review, and states that Han Solo and Boba Fett may both be in the first spinoff from Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.

“I want to reiterate for you literal minded readers out there that the only new thing I’ve contributed to this conversation is that I heard a rumor that the Han Solo and Boba Fett movie that we assumed was two movies has become one movie.”

The potential existence of Boba Fett in the movie does lend some credence to the recent info Making Star Wars got on the project that “bounty hunters are important to the film,” though bounty hunters would probably be important regardless of whether or not it was Han or Boba leading the flick. One last bit of information we have is that the movie will be filmed, at least partially, in Mexico.

Marvel gave the Inhumans their own series more than once over the years. The Inhumans first had their own series in 1975 with author Doug Moench leading the charge. Moench used several devices which have formed the core of many Inhumans stories to come later: the destruction of their home Attilan, being at odds with the rest of Marvel’s characters, and Jack Kirby’s device of Maximus the Mad throwing a monkey wrench into every situation. - Marvel Comics

The Train Now Arriving At Platform 9 ¾...

From Warner Bros Studio Tour London

This March, we’ll be unveiling a 20,000ft² expansion, including the original Hogwarts Express steam engine and a recreation of Platform 9 ¾.

The new, permanent section will offer a glimpse into how some of the films’ most iconic scenes were created as well as give you the chance to climb aboard the train’s carriage and to pose with a luggage trolley as it disappears through the platform wall.

Officially opening on Thursday 19th March, the new, must-see section has been redesigned and will be built by many of the crew members who worked on the most successful film series of all time.

Every inch of the platform’s glass roof, yellow brick walls and luggage racks, designed by Production Designer Stuart Craig, will be painstakingly reassembled by a team led by Construction Manager Paul Hayes and dressed by Set Decorator Rosie Goodwin. Special Effects Supervisor John Richardson will rig the locomotive with special effects steam.

You’ll be able to:

  • Pose with a luggage trolley on Platform 9 ¾ as it disappears through the station’s yellow brick wall and walk along the Hogwarts Express’ adjoining carriage
  • Explore the interior carriage set that was used during filming (complete with ‘windows’ that demonstrate the process used to create iconic train scenes from the films such as the escape of Harry’s first Chocolate Frog and the Dementor attack)
  • See a selection of prop luggage and find out which character owned which items by turning an interactive dial (characters include Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood and more)
  • Browse a wide range of goodies inspired by the Harry Potter films and, specifically, the Hogwarts Express in a train-themed souvenir shop which will be open on the platform

Godzilla Via Satellite

by Armand Vaquer

Above, a satellite view of Kurihama Flower World. Can you spot the Godzilla slide?

The other night, I was looking up something in Yokosuka, Japan. After I was done finding what I was looking for, I decided (for the fun of it) to see if I can get a satellite view of the Godzilla slide at the Kurihama Flower World park.

Sure enough, once I located the park through Google Maps, I zoomed in on the park and hit the satellite view feature and was able to find the Godzilla slide pretty fast.

Above, a little closer view. The Godzilla slide casts a familiar-shaped shadow.

As you can see from the accompanying satellite photographs, Godzilla was relatively easy to spot by his distinctive shadow. The overhead power lines that I knew were there were also an aid to finding the Godzilla slide.

Above, zooming in on the Godzilla slide.

In the photographs, it is easy to spot the shadow image of his dorsal spikes and tail.

Above, a view of the Godzilla slide from the ground. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

If Godzilla were a real creature and the Japanese Self Defense Forces had to find him via satellite, this would be what they would likely see to pinpoint where to direct their weapons.

The Godzilla slide is covered in The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan on page 32.

Sky Sharks - Sharks, Nazis, Zombies ... and Topless Amazons With Machine Guns All In One Movie

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Avery Guerra

Leave it to those wacky Germans to create a movie with all the elements of Sharknado, Walking Dead, Snakes on a Plane, and The Exorcist all wrapped together with Nazis and topless amazon chicks thrown in to boot.

Now, I don't have any idea how all these things all go together (It's kinda like that game from Sesame Street back in the day ... One of these things is not like the other) but somehow the folks over at Benfeghoul Productions and Marctropolis Filmentertainment figured out how to mash it all up.

Details on this thing are kinda sketchy, due to the fact that most of the press is written in German (Go figure, right) but there is a portion of the films' website in English where we found this synopsis:

A team of Arctic geologists stumble across an abandoned laboratory in which the Nazis developed an incredible and brutal secret weapon during the final months of WW2 .

Deep in the ice, they accidentally awake a deadly army of flying zombie sharks ridden by genetically mutated, undead super-humans, who are unleashed into the skies, wreaking their bloodthirsty revenge on any aircraft that takes to the air.

An elite task force is assembled to take on this deadly threat and stop the Sky Sharks from conquering the air, but as time runs out, the task force realises they will have to fight fire with fire, and the stage is set for the greatest flying super-mutant zombie shark air battle the world has ever seen....

Honestly I can't wait to see that. Though that blurb promises a spectacular air war between jets and flying mutant sharks ridden by zombies (I know it takes a minute to wrap your brain around it) almost all the pics I've seen take place on a airliner with passengers and clergy fighting the undead.

That leads me to this poster from the film that shows a topless amazon woman with a machine gun. The banner reads "Sky Frogs", which could be another movie or a parody of this movie? I have no idea!

All I know it is a buxom woman with a gun fighting of frogs. Maybe it's that wacky German humor or Benfeghoul Productions and Marctropolis Filmentertainment's next film project? When we find out we'll let ya know.

“Jupiter Ascending” Set For Release February 6, 2015

From Warner Bros

Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction action adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski.

Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

From the streets of Chicago to far flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” is written and directed by the Wachowskis. Award-winning producer Grant Hill, with whom they have collaborated since “The Matrix” Trilogy, is producing, together with Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski. Roberto Malerba and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.

Channing Tatum (“Magic Mike,” “Foxcatcher”) and Mila Kunis (“Oz the Great and Powerful”) lead a starring cast that includes Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy), Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”), Douglas Booth (“Noah”), Tuppence Middleton (“The Imitation Game”), Doona Bae (“Cloud Atlas”), James D’Arcy (“Hitchcock”) and Tim Pigott-Smith (“Alice in Wonderland”).

Behind the scenes, “Jupiter Ascending” reunites the Wachowskis with their longstanding collaborators, who most recently worked with them on “Cloud Atlas.” They include Oscar®-winning director of photography John Toll (“Braveheart,” “Legends of the Fall”); production designer Hugh Bateup; editor Alexander Berner; costume designer Kym Barrett; and hair and makeup designer Jeremy Woodhead. The music is composed by Oscar winner Michael Giacchino (“Up”).

“Jupiter Ascending” will showcase the kind of cutting-edge visual effects that have become the benchmarks of the Wachowskis’ films. Dan Glass (“Batman Begins,” “Cloud Atlas”) is the film’s visual effects supervisor, a post he has occupied for the Wachowskis since “The Matrix” Trilogy. Additionally, John Gaeta, the visual effects Oscarwinner behind “The Matrix,” is contributing to the visual effects design.

Set for release February 6, 2015, “Jupiter Ascending” is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in association with Anarchos Productions. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Breaking News: Supergirl is Cast!

From DC Comics

We may not be Kryptonian, but we still feel like we’re flying after this announcement.

Melissa Benoist has landed the title role in Supergirl, the new series in development by Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. Telling the story of Kara Zor-el, who escaped the destruction of her home planet before arriving on Earth, the show will deal with the 24-year-old Supergirl as she begins to embrace the powers our yellow sun provides her and gradually becomes the hero she’s destined to be.

Benoist is known for her role as Marley Rose on Glee. However, she can currently be seen in the acclaimed, Oscar-nominated film Whiplash, where she co-stars as Nicole, the would-be girlfriend to the movie’s young drum prodigy, Andrew.

Supergirl is Executive Produced by Greg Berlanti, who is also an Executive Producer of Arrow and The Flash, as well as Ali Adler and Sarah Schechter. The show has a series commitment at CBS.

Missoula instrumentalist pens score for Korean monster film

From Missoulian

Perhaps Yongary, a Korean knockoff of Godzilla, is like a grizzly bear – a misunderstood predator roused by the humans.

That's the frame of mind Travis Yost, a longtime Missoula musician, had to assume while writing an original score for "Yongary: Monster from the Deep," a 1967 B-movie about "a prehistoric gasoline-eating reptile that soon goes on a rampage through Seoul," according to the plot summary.

He had to create suspense for certain scenes while trying hard to ignore the fact that on screen, what's clearly a man in a rubber monster costume is battered with real fireworks.

It was "the worst job as a stuntman in the 1960s," he said.

Next Thursday, Yost will perform the score along with the movie at the Roxy Theater, armed with a guitar, keyboards, a drum machine and pedal board.

He'll play it all live, with some sequencing but no sampling. It has elements of rock and bubbly electronic, some atonal parts and some lighthearted moments.

"There's going to be a little tiptoeing into the clever," he said.

It is, after all, a man in rubber suit.

Roxy executive director Mike Steinberg gave Yost a list of suggestions for movies he could score, including some old Mexican wrestling films and sci-fi flicks.

The late 1960s look of "Yongary" immediately appealed to Yost, a fan of classic Connery-era Bond.

It has green-screened scenes of characters in automobiles, speeding along past repeated background loops. (Didn't they already pass that gas station?). It has lo-fi action sequences, such as helicopters on a string.

It has bizarre sequence in which an astronaut is summoned for a space mission. In classic B-movie style, he agrees regardless of the fact that he's on his honeymoon.

An Exclusive Look at Venom's All-New Costume

Valerio Schiti talks about designing a revamped appearance for the Symbiote Soldier and shares his behind the scenes work!

From Marvel Comics

Today in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #23, the team’s journey to the “Planet of the Symbiotes” comes to an impactful conclusion that leaves more than a lasting impression on Flash Thompson, aka Venom. In addition to a new look that combines aspects of the character’s classic incarnation with the most recent, the Symbiote Soldier has a more defined place in the Marvel Universe based on revelations regarding his living costume and its legacy.

Read GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #23 for the full story on the all-new Venom, but we’ve got exclusive commentary and sketches from artist Valerio Schiti on coming up with the characters reinvigorated appearance!

Marvel.com: Why a new look for Venom? What brings it on?

Valerio Schiti: I suppose that the main reason for this change is the new readers—at least that’s what [GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY writer] Brian Bendis said! The new generations of readers have a totally different idea of Venom; most of them don’t even know that once he was a bad guy. In this moment nobody perceives him like a monster, everybody knows that he’s a hero, a good guy with a super cool costume that can do amazing things so why don’t we concentrate on them? Brian noticed that new way of thinking about the character and imagined this totally different version. And everybody knows that if there’s someone with a great intuition for what is cool, that man is Brian Michael Bendis.

New ‘Force Awakens’ Concept Art Really Makes It Look Like One ‘Star Wars’ Character Will Make A Comback

From The Inquisitr

Outside of the Episode VII cast and crew, nobody’s quite certain who or what is going to show up in the next Star Wars movie. New concept art that’s supposedly leaked from the film, though, points to the return of one major character in The Force Awakens, and it’s the sort of resurrection that could turn fans’ expectations for the next trilogy upside down.

By now, two things should go without saying for this kind of post. First, of course, is that this is all conjecture, with occasionally unreliable outlets posting supposed leaks from even more unreliable sources. Second, which should be even more obvious, is that you should stop reading right about now if you want to roll into The Force Awakens spoiler-free.

Those things said, the last few days have seen an uptick in reports that a major Star Wars character was going to make a surprise return in Episode VII. Namely, one Darth Vader. Last week, a selfie from Warwick Davis showed the diminutive actor in front of what appeared to be a Darth Vader costume on set, kicking off yet another round of speculation that Vader would be appearing in some form or another in The Force Awakens.

This is the first part of the imaginary story detailing the final fate of the pre-Crisis modern-day Superman. It is generally told as a flashback in the year 1997 by Lois Lane Elliot, who is retired from the Daily Planet and now a happy homemaker. The first part of the story goes as follows:

One day in 1987, Superman returned from space to find Metropolis had suffered major damage, which Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen said came from Bizarro. Superman enters a wrecked department store and confronts Bizarro, demanding an explanation for all the death and destruction. Bizarro explains his reasons to Superman: he had recently realized that all these years, he has not been a "perfect imperfect duplicate", and so he took the necessary steps to fix that. Realizing that Superman came from an alien world that was destroyed by a natural accident, Bizarro destroyed Bizarro World then attempted to destroy his own birth world starting with Metropolis. Then, realizing that Superman never kills anyone (even bad people), Bizarro went on a killing spree through the city, murdering several innocent men, women, and children. Finally, Bizarro states that since Superman must live, then he himself must die. He holds up a chunk of Blue Kryptonite and presses it against his chest, fatally exposing himself to its poisonous radiation. Bizarro bids a final cryptic farewell to his longtime rival, then quietly passes away from Kryptonite poisoning, leaving Superman, shocked, confused, and saddened over what has just happened.
