A big breasted Japanese girl bouncing around fighting monsters. - The Ancient Dogoo Girl revisited

Image
Written By Ken Hulsey In thinking about how to write this review, I was really torn on how, exactly, to approach it. On the outset, "The Ancient Dogoo Girl" delivers exactly what was advertised in the promo clip I posted to Youtube, that has been viewed 133,000 times, a big breasted Japanese girl, bouncing around fighting monsters. Granted, that is the draw of the show, but to my delight, I am happy to report that there is more here than just T&A. Now, that being said, the folks over at the MBS network know exactly what they have, the very busty 20-year-old Erika Yazawa, running around in a clay bikini, making their male viewers loose their mind, and they don't apologize for it. They know that people are tuning into their series because of breasts and they go for it, all the way, in the second episode, called "Yōkai: Big Breasts". There is no way to dance around it, its an episode about boobs. The episode starts out with a male teen looking at an a

Spock gets in touch with his human side

Image
From Yahoo J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot had gorgeous production design, stunning action and enough lens flares to make you think the entire universe was encased in some sort of glass dome. But perhaps even more striking was the unique humanistic spin on the character of Spock, played with pitch-perfect precision by Zachary Quinto. Quinto's young Vulcan made for a much more emotional Starfleet science officer than the, well, more logical Spock played by Leonard Nimoy. Quinto's Spock was a man struggling with his duality as his human passions often conflicted with his reserved Vulcan upbringing. It was both strange and incredibly cathartic to see Spock lash out in violence after Kirk's rebellious antics and chiding pushed him too far. Spock's internal struggle will be a focal point of "Star Trek Into Darkness" as well. "I think we tapped into something in the first film that a lot of people weren't expecting, which is the emot

Juliette Binoche set to join the cast of Godzilla

Image
From Movies IE Variety is reporting that ‘The English Patient’ and ‘Chocolat’ star Juliette Binoche is in talks to join Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen on the cast of ‘Godzilla.’ Plot details remain under wraps, but as previously reported, the story is rumoured to centre on a soldier (Taylor-Johnson) and involve at least two monsters. Earlier this month we reported that Bryan Cranston was also in talks to join but there is no mention of the ‘Breaking Bad’ star in this latest report. Binoche most recently starred alongside Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg's ‘Cosmopolis.’ Gareth Edwards remains attached to direct with the most recent draft of the screenplay coming from Frank Darabont. Simon Pegg denies 'Star Wars Episode 7' rumour: 'It's Bantha poodoo'

Image
From Digital Spy Star Trek Into Darkness actor Simon Pegg has dismissed speculation linking him with a role in Star Wars Episode 7. The Hot Fuzz star has been tipped for a part in the new film since Star Trek filmmaker Jj Abrams was appointed as director, but has now quashed such rumours. "No idea where this silly rumour about me attached to the new Star Wars film came from but I can confirm that it's absolute Bantha poodoo (not true)," he wrote on Twitter. Pegg, who has also worked with Abrams on the Mission: Impossible series in the past, was non-committal when Digital Spy quizzed him on the possibility of appearing in Star Wars. "I've spoken to him and congratulated him but it's not written so there's no casting or anything," he said. "[Me having a role] just hasn't come up." Star Wars original trilogy actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford have all been linked READ ARTICLE

Haruo Nakajima

by Armand Vaquer Above, Haruo Nakajima in 2008.  Photo by Armand Vaquer. When people think of the “Godfathers of Godzilla,” they usually think of three men: Tomoyuki Tanaka, Ishiro Honda and Eiji Tsuburaya. However, there is also a fourth Godfather: Haruo  Nakajima. His importance in making Godzilla a fifty year-plus success story cannot be denied. Nakajima, an actor and stuntman, first donned the Godzilla suit in Godzilla (1954) and continued to play Godzilla and other creatures, including King Kong in King Kong Escapes , Rodan in Rodan, Gaila in War of the Gargantuas, Varan, Moguerra, Mothra and many others. He played Godzilla in twelve features and monsters in twenty six movies, in addition to TV appearances. His skills as a suit actor became so important that he gained the additional responsibility of becoming the choreographer of titanic monster battles in Toho’s daikaiju eiga epics. When Nakajima was offered the chance to work in Hollywood productions, Eiji  T

Fans of DC Comics' darker take on its Avengers-style superteam are in for a treat. In a recent interview to talk all things Mama, del Toro revealed that pre-production is moving along smoothly, and detailed which character arcs he'd love to address from the comics. "I am going to be presenting my storyline to DC and Warners of where I want to take this universe. We do have a writer, but until that is firmed up, I have to keep it a secret. I hope it happens," he said. READ ARTICLE

Several Early Encounters With Morag Uncovered By Scotish Researcher

Image
From Herald Scotland Some of the earliest-known writings on Nessie's less well-known cousin shed new light on the community which lived in its shadow more than 100 years ago, according to the researcher who uncovered them. Morag, a mysterious creature supposed to inhabit the depths of Loch Morar, in the Highlands, is the subject of three separate writings from Alexander Carmichael, a prolific gatherer of folklore in his day. The scripts, believed to date from 1902, have been uncovered by the Carmichael Watson project at the University of Edinburgh library. Dr Donald Stewart, a senior researcher on the project, discovered the texts while leafing through a "mad mixture" of folklore collected by Carmichael over 50 years. "We were so pleased when we found them, it was just totally unexpected," he said. The writings paint a conflicting view of Morag. On the one hand she is presented as a mermaid-like character with flowing hair, while another descriptio

The Ghastly Love Of Johnny X Featured On CBS News Sunday Morning

Image
Written By: Ken Hulsey Imagine my surprise this morning when I turned on CBS News Sunday Morning and I saw a little feature about a film I first wrote about five years ago called 'The Ghastly Love of Johnny X'. The piece featured the film and it's creator, film maker Paul Bunnell, illustrating the vast contrast in how big-budget films and independent films are promoted and released into theaters. Here is Bunnell standing outside a movie house in Kansas handing out fliers and asking passers by to come in to see his movie. How is the small time film maker able to compete with the likes of Warner Bros and Universal with their endless supply of cash and publicity outlets? Sadly they can't. Films like 'Johnny X' have to rely on independent film websites (like this one), film festivals, and word of mouth to get noticed by a public that is being constantly bombarded by ads for Hollywood mainstream productions. How has 'Johnny X' fared so far against Holly

To boldly go where no man has gone before - Star Trek Revisited

Image
Written By: Ken Hulsey I, as most fans of Science Fiction, began my life-long love of the genre by watching “Star Trek”. I honestly didn’t discover the series on my own. I was “persuaded” to watch the series by my older cousin Rick, who was an avid fan. The first episode I ever saw was “Arena” which pitted Captain Kirk against the lizard-man captain of the Gorn species in a fight to the death orchestrated by yet another unseen alien species. Being a young man who was in love with Dinosaurs the reptilian Gorn first captured my interest, but it was the intelligent and well-written story that brought me back for more episodes. My own youthful spirit of adventure combined with a longing to travel beyond the boundaries of my own back yard were a perfect match for the series exploration storylines and charismatic characters. What six-year-old boy doesn’t long to pilot a starship across the vast unexplored regions of infinite space? Thus I became a Trekkie and a Sci-fi fan for life. Altho

Mark Hamill Talks About A Possible Retro Star Wars Episode VII

Image
From TG Daily Right now, rumors about the new Star Wars movie are all over the place, and one of the biggest ones going around at the moment is that the original Star Wars crew, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, will probably be returning. Actually, for some time now there have been rumors that Hamill, Ford and Fisher would be headed back to the Star Wars universe, while another recent rumor claimed Ford’s deal to return was as good as sealed. Now Hamill has broken the silence about all this to The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Tonight, and he said, "They’re talking to us. George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we’d be interested. He did say that if we didn’t want to do it, they wouldn’t cast another actor in our parts; they would write us out." Hamill also added, "I can tell you right away that we haven’t signed any contracts. We’re in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with [screenwriter] Michael Arndt, and Kathleen Kennedy. Shatner and Nimoy campaign to name Pluto’s moon Vulcan

Image
From Radio Times The satellite is likely to be named after the fictional planet (or the Roman God, depending on your point of view) thanks to Captain Kirk and Mr Spock The fictional planet Vulcan – home of Star Trek’s Mr Spock – could soon have a real-life namesake tracing its orbit through our very solar system thanks to the show's stars William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. Shatner, who played Captain James T Kirk in the classic sci-fi series, successfully nominated Vulcan for inclusion in a public poll by The Seti Institute which will decide the names of two of Pluto's newly discovered moons, currently known simply as P4 and P5. Meanwhile, Nimoy, aka starship Enterprise first officer Mr Spock, told his 447,000 Twitter followers "'Vulcan' is the logical choice. LLAP". The duo's support seems to have done the trick – with less than three days until the poll closes, Vulcan is way out in front with over 13,000 votes, 5,000 more than its nearest rival

Compelling Video of Mass UFO Sighting

Image
From Gather.com A squadron of sliver orb UFO balls of light was caught on video as they "danced" through a darkening sky with the onset of a storm. What are they? The video, submitted to the destination site "Third Phase Of Moon" has been making the rounds on the web because of the unusual activity captured. The orbs fly around each other in a controlled pattern and several times dip in and out of the clouds. That seems to rule out the most usual method of trickery: beams of light reflected off a mirror pointed at the sky. READ ARTICLE

A Family of Bigfoot Spotted Alongside Texas River

Image
CNHI News Service PORT NECHES, Texas — David Arceneaux said he felt a chill as he looked across Block Bayou at a line of trees about 100 yards away. “I’m not crazy. I don’t do drugs and I’m not a drinker,” Arceneaux said before telling his tale of seeing not one but two Bigfoot-like creatures huddled together one December morning. The Nederland, Texas, native visits Oak Bluff Cemetery about once a month to clean the graves of a friend and a cousin, something he has done for years without incident. But on an overcast, windless day, Arceneaux said he got the fright of his life. “I heard a blood-curdling scream and a lady nearby asked me if I was OK. I told her it wasn’t me,” Arceneaux said. “We walked over to the water and looked to the left then straight ahead.” He said what he saw next amazed him. Two Bigfoot-like creatures who had been throwing rocks in the water looked across at him and the unknown female. One was standing next to a tree, arms around the trunk and the oth

Roger and Mickey the new Martin and Lewis?

Image
From Cinema Blend We've been hearing rumors for years regarding a potential sequel to the Robert Zemeckis hit Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but at the end of the day it very well could be another project that brings the titular cartoon bunny back to the big screen. The other day rumors were launched that a remake of the Dean Martin-Jerry Lewis comedy The Stooge was in the works with the lead characters set to be replaced by Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit. But as outlandish as that may sound, it turns out that it's actually true. Following on the heels of the rumor, which was launched by AICN, the great Gary K. Wolf, who created Roger Rabbit, wrote a letter to the site explaining that the movie is real and currently being pitched as a 100% animated film to Disney/Pixar. According to the author, the film would have many of the same plot elements as the original version of The Stooge - which came out in 1952 - but would not be a straight remake. Producer Erik von Wodtke has alread

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to join Ford in Star Wars Episode VII?

Image
From Collider Another day, another Star Wars rumor. As anticipation for Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII continues to rise, fans are clamoring for every tiny bit of information concerning the new trilogy. Firm details are incredibly scarce at the moment, and things will likely stay that way for some time now that “Mystery Man” J.J. Abrams has officially signed on to direct Episode VII. The most recent unconfirmed rumor concerning the film states that Harrison Ford is in talks to reprise his role as Han Solo, and now a new rumor has surfaced that suggests Solo will be joined by his pals Luke and Leia, as Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher may or may not be returning in a storyline that focuses on the trio’s children. Hit the jump for more. Before we get too far into this, it’s important to note that at this point nobody knows anything, so take the following rumor with the biggest heap of salt possible. That being said, a report at Showbiz 411 claims that Ford,

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition - Racist?

Image
Source: ABC News The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition has been a staple of dorm rooms and could be found under any teenage boys bed for almost fifty years. During that time no one would ever argue that the magazine had almost anything to do with actually selling bikinis as it was to showcasing a little wholesome T&A. Now, however it isn't all the skin that has some people upset. Despite all the boobs and asses the magazine is now being labeled as racist and not for the reason you would imagine. No it's not for featuring a limited number of women   of African descent that's the issue, it's for actually featuring photos shot in Africa with the local indigenous residents posed with the models that has people all worked up. Here is the article: Sport Illustrated is under fire for their newest swimsuit edition. The issue is known for its pictures with scantily clad women in international locations.
